It was introduced as the third generation successor of the Nissan Fairlady Z, with the name carrying over to the fourth generation as well. The addition of the X to the name was inspired by the vehicle s immediate predecessor, the 280ZX, and signifies the presence of more luxurious, comfort-oriented options such as the Body Sonic audio system, climate control, leather seating, and an optional digital gauge cluster, among others.
