The classis Mini is one of the most significant autos of the 20th century, voted as the 2nd most influential ever to be mass produced just behind the Model T Ford. The compact British coupe was revolutionary when first launched in 1959 and its production ran until 2000. Designed by Sir Alex Issignonis around the passenger compartment to insure ample room for its 120-inch length. The motor and gearbox shared the same oil and the side mounted radiator permitted a short front end. A small fuel tank shares the boot or trunk with the battery, tool kit and spare wheel while still leaving room for suitcases. Originally fitted with 10-inch wheels and rubber suspension rather than springs it handles like a go-cart. The Mini had rally, racing and motorsport success along with outstanding reliability. Over 5.3 million classic Minis were produced.
The one offered here was sold new by Kings Road of Osaka, Japan. The car is in a very well-maintained original condition including glass all around and gaskets that look new despite their age. Starts, runs and performs very well with a solid feel. You will be greeted with grins and thumbs up wherever you motor.
