1989 Mercedes-Benz 420SEL

A classic Mercedes from the days when cars were built like tanks. I have been restoring the vehicle for the last few years, but its time to move on and let someone else enjoy the vehicle.

Items I addressed in the last two years:
- Replaced Side-View Mirror Glass.
- Greased Side-View Mirror Joints.
- Replaced Engine Valve Cover Seals
- Fixed Instrument Cluster Clock with new capacitor and greased gears.
- Fixed Tachometer with new capacitor.
- Replaced and greased odometer gears (prone to cracking over time).
- Replaced Hood Insulation Pad.
- Replaced Air Intake Hose.
- Replaced Engine Air Filter.
- Replaced Front-to-Rear Audio Fader Switch.
- Replaced Antenna Grommet.
- Replaced Radio Head Unit to Continental TR7412UB-OR.
- Greased power-antenna mechanism and antenna pole.
- Replaced Engine Belts.
- Replaced AC Idler Pulley.
- Replaced Alternator (Only Reman Alternator Available).
- Replaced Spark Plugs and Leads.
- Replaced distributor cap and rotor.
- Replaced Rear-Passenger window regulator bracket.
- Replaced Front-Driver window regulator bracket.
- Replaced EHA Valve (Fuel System)
- Replaced Both Fuel Pumps, Fuel Filter, Fuel Accumulator.
- Flushed rear differential.
- Replaced motor oil with LiquiMoly 10W-40 with MoS2 Additive (recommended by mercedessource.com)
- Replaced interior lights and serviced HVAC head unit and backlights.
- New Black Lloyd's matts for front and rear of vehicle.

Items that still need work:
- Transmission Fluid Leak (Bowden cable seal is leaking, which is on the top of the transmission, so transmission will leak if the vehicle sits for over a week.)
- Transmission will jolt sometimes when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear under heavy acceleration.
- Front headlight washers are not operational.
- Cruise control system does not work, actuator has been removed, but included in box of spare parts.
- 2-3 small dents, along the driver side of vehicle.
- Some interior leather damage near seat belt on driver side and passenger side.
- Engine takes a few seconds to get going after sitting, I suspect leaky fuel injectors. Once the vehicle runs for about 20 seconds, the idle steadies out.
- Small rust bubble on the rear window (bottom driver side), though doesn't appear to be growing (stored indoors, hasn't seen rain in years).
- Air conditioning was working last year, but doesn't seem to blow very cold this summer, very likely a small leak somewhere in the system.
- Rear driver side wheel bolt is seized and snapped, replacement lug-bolt is included in the box of spare parts.
- Power steering pump is seeping oil when left to sit for extended periods of time.

Includes indoor car cover and box of spare parts. I have both original vehicle keys and book of service performed on the vehicle since the late 90's.
