The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. Classic Car Overview
Along with the new engine, an upgraded turbo was installed alongside a new diesel injector pump, intake and exhaust manifold, radiator, intercooler and intercooler plumbing, as well as installing an electric engine fan that cools the engine compartment down automatically and can be turned on / off by the battery kill switch installed (below drivers seat). New Oil pump, timing belt and tensioner as well as an all-new clutch and clutch kit.
Most importantly, this Engine is UNDER WARRANTY until August 2, 2024 with EuroTech Charleston, where the engine was installed. Pistons are .040 oversize and main bearings are +.020
The new engine has less than 400 miles and the Defender has a clean US title and South Carolina registration. Repainted in a steel blue with black trim over a black vinyl upholstery, this Defenders body is rust-free, defective free, and has no tampering or patch work done to disguise issues. You will not find an original Defender 90 in better condition than this truck. She is original and pure and you can hear the turbo whistling from a mile away.
The following maintenance on the vehicle has been completed in addition to the new engine install by Vintage Import in Charleston, SC: replaced transmission, water pump and belts, thermostat and flushed coolant, and re-wired all lighting functions to ensure optimal performance. The rear exhaust hangers were replaced along with the gear box, all drive shaft U-Joints, and flushed the front and rear differential. Additional vehicle features include a locking center differential, snorkel, aluminum body panels, brush grille, rock sliders, and roof flood lights. Brand new rear bench seats have been installed.
The only thing that needs to be done to this truck if you wish to upgrade the interior or leave her as she is intended to be.
