Classic Car Overview
(8 Cylinders H 5.0L TBI OHV 305 CID)
51k original miles!
I bought this van at a University of Washington fleet vehicle auction in 2002. It had around 20k miles on it at the time so basically its first 13 years of service as a maintenance vehicle that never left campus (and was cared for meticulously) it put on about 1,500 miles a year. Since then Ive used it primarily to do material runs and the dump. Of course Ive taken it on a few camping trips across the mountains and to the coast (which make up a good chunk of its miles). So its been very lightly used and averaged about 1,300 miles a year in the 23 years Ive owned it.
Recent work on the van includes:
(2025) Band new water pump, fan clutch, belts, and thermostat
(2024) spark plugs, distributor cap, PCV valve
(2023) alternator, drive belt, brake pads, calipers, and rotors.
Good tires, good seats, solid.
Things to note: The gas gauge, wiper fluid, dont work and the rear bumper is bent out because some guy clipped it with his car when he was checking out my girlfriend walking to my house!
A 1989 Chevy G20 van cargo is a workhorse of a vehicle, known for its durability and capacity to carry cargo. These vans were part of the G-Series lineup, which was discontinued after 1996 and replaced by the Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana. The G20, in particular, was popular for its cargo-carrying abilities and was used for various purposes, including hauling goods, construction materials, or even for conversion into RVs.
Here's a more detailed look at the 1989 Chevy G20 van cargo:
Key Features:
Cargo Capacity:These vans were designed with a large cargo area, making them ideal for carrying loads of goods.
Durability:The G-Series vans were known for their robust construction and ability to withstand heavy use, making them reliable for work and hauling.
Versatility:Beyond cargo, they were also converted into passenger vans, RVs, and other specialized vehicles.
Powertrain:The 1989 G20 likely came with a variety of engine options, including the popular 5.7L V8, which offered strong power and towing capabilities.
Longevity:While older, with regular maintenance, G-Series vans are known for their ability to last a long time.
