Classic Car Overview
1989 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham For consignment, a very nice 87,922 actual mile, 3 owner and garage kept example of a car that has been cosmetically and mechanically maintained with a new vinyl roof, new paint job, new brake hoses and an upgraded lighting system. Whether you were a lottery winner, a business tycoon, a mobster or just a retiree who felt like it was owned to them, this truly was the best Cadillac had to offer in 1989 and now this example is taking up some serious space in our Hallowed Halls. Exterior The gold faded to silver wreathed, cloisonn center crowned badge leads the way on top of the V style egg crate chromed grille which is flanked by some serious spare and rectangle design in the form of dual headlights. Just below the horizontal turn signals with a winged crown crest adhered to them, wrap around the front quarters, where they have some running lights just above them. Below all this late 80s menagerie is a clean chromed bumper with some rubber strips inserted. A large stainless rocker covering takes over up front of the wheel well and works its way to the rear of the car. This is a 4-door luxury sedan and for the gaps of this we note they are all well minded. On the roof is a new padded vinyl top in white just like the rest of the exterior. The three bedroom size trunk lid is framed on either side by vertical big bezeled taillights and more caddy crests in their centers. A shiny rear bumper is below, and I can see no problems visually with this rear framer. Faded gold leafed crown crests are peppering the exterior throughout the car, and for the chromed wire wheel covers they are also not to be out done. Finally, some tasteful red pin striping makes its way throughout the edges and panels of this wonderful piece of Detroit iron. Overall the color matched repaint presents well with some minor chips and inclusion but the body remains rust free. Interior Just as luxurious as the exterior, we see plenty of red padded vinyl, wood appliqu, chromed panels, and red carpeting covering the doors insides. The customary power toggles are on the armrest as the chromed door actuator and a courtesy light. Inside pillow-like red leather covered wide buckets are up front and there is a fold down white armrest in the center. These have aged gracefully and have a few folds in the leather thrown in for that character. In back a spacious rear bench has access to big pouches for storage and plenty of legroom covered entirely with well preserved, clean red carpeting. Upfront a nicely curved U shape is reserved for the dash, and it has wood appliqu within the red padded surroundings. Its 1989 and all the creature comforts are controlled by push buttons and even some blue LCD readouts are within. More wood appliqu for the passenger glove box and above all this finery is a clean and tight felted broadcloth headliner. Drivetrain Under the hood within a gaggle of hoses, wires and bolt ons, comfortably sits a 305ci V8 topped with a single 4-barrel carburetor, and a 200R4 4-speed automatic on back, Final drive is a 10-bolt 2.93 gas saving, (as if you care), rear axle. Undercarriage Up on the lift and it can be proven from the appearance that this is a well cared for car. All surfaces are clean save for some road splatter over sparse surface rust and solid body on framing all covered in black undercoating. Independent coil springs up front and 4 link with coil springs for the back provide the cushy rode, and power disc fronts and power drums backs all with new hoses provide the stopping. Drive-Ability I donned my wood feather accented fedora and slipped inside this late 80s luxury liner. I fired it up and after coming to life, drove to the test track where it performed just wonderfully. No issues with any power options save for the heater/AC blower not blowing, the radio not singing away and the high beams not being functional on this large and in charge skate. These cars dripped status back in the day and success was measured by the inch. There is plenty of success oozing from this square and rectangle design land yacht. Im on my way of making it...big time! Flossy.
