Classic Car Overview

Up for sale is my 1988 Mercedes Benz 560 SL (R107) this car has been in my family since 1991. Most of its miles are from long highway trips, and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere today; this triple black beauty (black interior, paint, soft top,and hard top) could be a Mercedes enthusiasts garage queen or a capable daily driver. At 84,208 miles this 560 SL is just broken in. My grandfather and father both owned this vehicle and put most of its mileage on it it holds a special place in my heart, but my wife and I are expecting a baby boy this year and it is time to move on. Being the passionate European car enthusiast that I am, this Mercedes holds a special place in my heart and has been cared for meticulously. My family has kept it happy with regular service and babied it throughout its life. The car has never seen snow and rarely seen rain it is very clean and boasts some particularly desirable options for the R107 560 SL, most notably including the factory rear jump seat and hard top. The black leather interior is in exceptional shape for its age, floor mats are new, and black paint still turns heads when driving down the road. I recently put a significant amount of maintenance into the vehicle with MAG Motors, Northeast Ohios premiere independent service shop for Mercedes Benz, who awarded it a clean bill of health for the next owner. In preparation for sale, the car received over $3,000 worth of service including a fuel delivery system overhaul utilizing parts from mercedessource.com, a new radiator, steering coupler replacement (which required removal of the power steering gearbox), idler arm replacement, a transmission service, a rear differential service, and an oil change. Within the last 2000 miles, the vehicle received new brake pads and rotors, wheel bearings, drive belts, ball joints, tie rods, and a four-wheel alignment. Overall, the 5.6L V8 engine runs strong, transmission shifts smoothly, the steering feel is tight, and handling is crisp. Unlike most examples, this 560 SL does not leak fluids. This example comes with a thick stack of service records since new, its original window sticker, and factory manuals. Everything on the car is stock minus the head unit, but the original radio is included in the sale, along with a car cover, hard top stand, and hard top installation tools. Other items to note the transmission and torque converter were replaced by Mercedes at 22,500 miles, the car was in a fender bender in the early 2000s, and I have done my best with the photos on the listing to illustrate its small imperfections such as dings / scratches. The drivers side taillight also has a small crack in it. As far as I know, the factory soft top is in good shape without rips or tears, but I have been utilizing the hard top for quite some time. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like further information on this beautiful R107 560 SL and I will be happy to provide additional information.
