The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. Classic Car Overview

1988 560SL Black on Black.
This is an immaculate 1988 Mercedes 560SL Roadster that is a documented three prior owner west coast car from new and looks and behaves nearly new in all respects. The Black livery is unbelievably glossy and looks just as it did when it left the factory.
It was bought new from Sutherland Motors in Spokane, Washington by Edwin Asimakoupoulos on Thanksgiving Day 1987. Edwin took incredible care of the car for 20 years until in 2007 it had its second owner, Robert Sturtevant. Robert kept care of the car for the next decade when it was sold to Larry Miller in Murrieta, CA. Larry had the car transported from Washington state and had enjoyed it for two years. He regularly serviced, detailed and maintained the car, as needed. I Purchased the Vehicle from Larry Miller in June of 2019.
Overall description:
Mercedes-Benzs 560SL roadster was the benchmark for luxury convertibles in the late 1980s, and in many ways, it still is. Other roadsters have come and gone, but none have come close to the all-around experience of driving one of these German convertibles. While the Stuttgart-based company produced the R107-generation roadster from the early 1970s right through to the close of the 1980s, most enthusiasts and experts agree that those final cars, the 560SL with the 5.6-liter V-8 sold from 1986 through 1989, are the cream of the crop, in terms of performance and refinement. Vehicle includes both hard and soft-tops. A Rare Triple Black 560SL which is seldomly available in the after sales market. The Current odometer shows just slightly over 42K Miles.
The 560SL was only available for four model years and featured a sole engine option: the M117 5.6-liter OHC fuel-injected V-8, rated at 227 horsepower, which could send this 3,500-pound personal-luxury car to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds. It was the most powerful engine offered in a North American-market R107. Under hood photos show a nicely detailed V-8 engine, and no damage or obviously missing components. The seller reports that the engine is original to the car and runs as smoothly as youd expect a Mercedes-Benz V-8 to run. The seller notes that the 4G-Tronic four-speed automatic shifts very smoothly. He reports no leaks under the vehicle and has provided a photo showing the underside of the engine. All Maintenance has been performed as well as records retained since ownership for next owner. Recent Service includes replacement of all Engine Mounts, Sub-Frame and Transmission, Replacement of Power Steering Pump and Oil and Filter Service.
The seller reports that the car is finished in its original paint, and he notes that there are no blemishes, dents, or dings. The paint is in excellent condition. A Recent Professionally Detail was completed with new Ceramic Coating applied. There are no visible swirl marks or obvious issues in the photos. The bumper plastics appear to be in good condition, with no discoloration or warping, and the chrome bumpers show no signs of rust or other damage. The car is equipped with original black fabric top that appears to have no rips or tears. Window in rear is clear with no discoloration. It is also equipped with a hardtop with Stand. The paint on the hardtop appears to be in excellent shape.
Mercedes-Benz vehicles tend to have upholstery that holds up under any circumstances, but the leather interior has been completely replaced with new Leather Seats from GAHH. Black leather with contrast Grey leather Pipping accounts the Black and Grey Coco Mats. There is also all new Wood Burlwood on Dash with accents on the Door as well as the Speaker Covers. (The Original Black Covers have been retained) The Burlwood Sift knob has been upgraded to coordinate with the surrounding burlwood. The Original stereo has been updated with a newer tuner which features Single CD, Port for MP3, handsfree Bluetooth Phone integration. The original Cassette Stereo has been retained and sells with the Vehicle and is noted to be in working order). The Air Conditioning functions and Blows Cold, all air is directed thru the correct vents including the center vents. Replacement of the Center Pod that distributes the air between the defroster and the center Vents has been replaced with new. Temperature Sensor has also been fitted with new Tubing which has been known to disintegrate over time. There are no visible signs of wear or damage to the seating surfaces, the bolsters, or the armrest between the seats. The door panels are all original and in excellent shape, with no damage to the armrests. The dash is in excellent condition, with no cracking around the vents. The seller reports that all of the gauges are functional and are bright orange with little or no fading.
The seller reports that the power-steering system drives the car as straight as an arrow, with no play in the steering wheel. Bushings and shocks have been regularly serviced and inspected and are in excellent condition. The seller reports no issues with the way the four-wheel antilock disc brakes operate. The Mercedes-Benz 15 x 7 Chrome alloy wheels are in excellent condition, with no visible curb rash or finish issues. The wheels are equipped with almost new tires, according to the seller.
The seller states that this vehicle will be sold on a clean California title. The vehicle is conveyed with all original manuals, two Keys an operation manual for the top, Radio and has original tool kit. This 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is a landmark personal-luxury automobile and notably the last of its kind. This one is clean and well maintained throughout its years and has had been meticulously prepared with all major expenses completed to preserve the integrity of this highly coveted new collector car.
