VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

Classic Car Overview

This low mileage 1988 RX-7 convertible is finished in Sunrise Red over grey leather upholstery. This car has been garaged and "babied" throughout its life. It is a blast to drive; the engine runs super-smooth. The paint & finish are excellent (no fading, blemishes, oxidation, etc.). The interior is in o.k. shape for being over 30 years old. The "boot" was remade with all new snaps.

The car is powered by a 1.3-liter Wankel rotary engine with a five-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a power-operated black convertible top, pop-up headlights, 15 BBS alloy wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, the original stereo, twin exhaust outlets, and air conditioning. The CD player and radio are original and work. The power antenna quit working and replacement could not be found. It was replaced with a standard antenna.

Body Comments: 1) One small door ding in passenger side door. 2) Two scratches above gas cap cover. 3) Small dent in trunk lid. 4) Age cracks in the leather seats but none that go thru the upholstery. The carpet in the trunk was redone. The Carfax report shows no accidents or damage and lists registration history in Kansas & Illinois.

My wife and I purchased the car on July 7th, 2005. It was previously owned by a gentleman that lived in Wichita Kansas. We are the 3rd owner of the car. It has given us no mechanical trouble.
