Classic Car Overview
~166k Miles
Since originally listing, NEW CARPET and NEW SEATS have been installed!
The motor is original but has been maintained.
The transmission was supposedly rebuilt ~20-25k ago.
I am the second owner. The vehicle belonged to my friends father. He drove it as his daily until around 2000, at which time it became a secondary vehicle. It was parked and covered in 2008 until I pulled it out in 2022.
It is a 100% Southern car, always in SC, with no rust, and everything is there and intact. However, the exterior paint and trim show age, and there is a dent behind the passenger-side rear door.
You are getting a maintained and mechanically restored Wagoneer with the common failure points and items requiring service addressed, plus the correct parts to finish other common tasks as part of the restoration process. The parts alone are worth the asking price. The vehicle has a clean SC Title.
I am selling because as much as I love this car (and have put a ton into it), its age and style don't appeal to the rest of the family, and they don't like to ride in it. It's ok, we've found something else we all mutually agree on.
Since taking ownership, Ive done the following:
- Converted to electronic fuel injection with a Sniper EFI + surge tank. She starts on the first crank without pumping or cursing and idles and accelerates beautifully.
- Replaced all five tires (including spare)
- New alternator
- New power steering pump
- New water pump
- New fan clutch
- New radiator
- All new belts and hoses
- New exhaust
- Replaced all fluids + installed LubeLocker gaskets
- New front brake pads, calipers, and rotors
- New front axle seals, bearings, etc.
- New rear brake shoes, drums, and cylinders (and other hardware)
- New Dutchman rear axles + bearings, seals, etc.
- New KYB shocks all around
- New Borgeson vibration-damping steering shaft (no more rag joint)
- New headliner
- New carpeting + padding for sound dampening
- NEW custom made Katzskin seats
- Reconditioned door panels/door cards + kick plates
- New window seals all around
- New door seals all around
- BJs power window motor conversion (no more flex tracks). This is one of the greatest improvements to the Jeep; the windows just work
- Reworked tailgate glass (works properly)
- All power lock actuators replaced and functioning
- All plastic components in the lock rod systems replaced
- Door vapor barriers replaced
- Holly Restobright LED headlights (awesome)
- All speakers replaced
- Stereo upgraded to 8 Wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto head unit with a backup camera (properly mounted into the tailgate above the license plate)
I also have the following parts that I havent gotten around to installing:
- Holley Sniper Hyperspark distributor, coil, and ignition controller. ($850)
- DUI livewires for the Hyperspark distributor + coil wire brackets from BJs ($200)
- BJs USA-made leaf spring kit ($1,400)
- Rebuilt OEM power steering box ($300)
- New custom wooden Grant steering wheel ($300) + components
- All steering column switches and components to be addressed when installing the wheel (~200)
- Rear spoiler for above the tailgate ($300)
- Oil pan, oil pan gasket, oil pickup tube, oil pump, and oil pump midplate
- Rear main seals from 3 manufacturers (SCE, Felpro, and BJs offroad branded) - plan was to get in there and determine which did the best job, starting with the SCE).
- A complete Poppys Petina kit w/prep materials ($300)
- Round Holley Restobright lights in case you want to convert to an older grille style ($350)
- All door handle and other hardware/trim gaskets (if you decide to repaint) ($100)
- Misc components for when you need them from BJs and TGW (priceless, because youre gonna need them and be happy you have them and dont have to wait)
Cons:
- She needs the Poppys Patina applied, or, if you prefer, a new paint job.
- I havent installed the parts listed above
- The windshield has some fogging on the bottom passenger side.
- The rear main seal leaks a bit. It's not enough of a leak that I have concerns driving it, but it's enough to occasionally leave a dime-sized spot on the driveway after a good run. I have held off on replacing and do not believe in the magic fluids to stop leaks, so Ive left it be.
- The transmission shifter cable gasket leaks a bit. Just like the rear main seal, it's not enough of a leak that I have concerns driving it, but is enough to occasionally leave a drop or two on the driveway. I have held off on replacing and do not believe in the magic fluids to stop leaks, so Ive left it be.
- The high beam lights need the steering column switch replaced to work
- The fog lights do not work; probably switch or relay; havent messed with them yet.
- Its an old Wagoneer; it will require care and attention from the right owner.
