Classic Car Overview

1988 Ford Mustang GT Convertible For consignment, a 1988 Ford Mustang GT convertible showing 2,971 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This ones been built to the hilt and wears a heritage Mustang color associated with great muscle cars of the past. Hold on to your seats, this is quite a ride! Exterior Its a blue that does exactly what it says it will do, grab you! Two stage Grabber Blue brightens the fox body which is augmented with a cowl hood, sizable rear wing, and 18-inch Weld RTS wheels with staggered size tires and an early 2023 date code. She hunkers down on those wheels and with the top down, the profile is shaped by the wind with everything leaning back with the exception of the styling bar which only slightly cants. Only the light lenses, front and rear, interrupt the clean, blue paint and the black canvas top with its glass window contrasts with clean coverage. The paint and body are excellent and we could find no exterior flaws on this one. Interior Custom touches begin on the door panel where reflective orange honeycomb inserts color the speaker and lower panel. Gray leather trim on the door tops carries over to the inserts on the low back black leather bucket seats and as a band of trim on the rear 2+2s. More orange blacked speakers are integrated into the styling bar which shares the white stitched black leather wrapping of the seats. The steering wheel fronts a fantastic Dakota Digital instrument cluster framed in more stitched leather on the dash, while a hands free, custom built stereo system is embedded and the A/C panel remains fairly standard in the center stack. More orange speakers are found in the footwells, on the A-pillars, and on the dash pad itself. A Hurst shifter rises from a piano black backed panel in the center console and black carpet floods the floor. In the trunk, a boxed system containing a large and attractively trimmed subwoofer. Drivetrain A polished palace awaits when you open the hood where a 347ci V8 stroker resides, complete with a Vortech V-3 S1 supercharger and custom intercooler, along with Holley Sniper EFI and 47lb/hr injectors. A Ram twin disc clutch is inside the T56 6-speed manual and a QA1 carbon fiber driveshaft transfers power to the Ford 8.8 rear with 3.73 gears and TracLoc. Moser 31 spline axles add to the stout rear end. Grabber Blue sidewalls and polished components all around make this clean engine bay show worthy! Undercarriage Clean, blue, and likely show worthy also, the underside is a feast for the senses, beginning with the dual exhaust that come off of headers, run through Flow FX by FlowMaster mufflers, then travel with shiny stainless steel to polished ends exposed under the valance. We see the carbon fiber driveshaft and Ford Racing rear differential cover. SSBC 4-piston brakes augment the power disc on all four wheels and an AJE tubular front suspension adds to the coil spring while a 4 link with coil springs are employed out back. Its oil free and rust free underneath. Drive-Ability Weve seen our share of five point ohs, but this one is definitely special. The seats are comfortable and the dash relays info in a welcoming, modern way. The 347 lights up instantly and bellows through the mall, and the blue pony rides the test loop with flying colors, accelerating well, tracking straight, and with rail-like handling. The wipers wont shut off, which we imagine on long treks, could be wearing. Along with that, the power mirror and locks are not working. All other functions check the green boxes on our report and its back to the stable for this thoroughbred! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. You know that phrase, you couldnt build it for that? Yes, this would be one of those instances. This is mechanically and cosmetically custom and is a turnkey show car and a stand out in the Foxbody world. If it grabs you just right, be sure to call with interest before this one runs away! 1FABP45E5JF170570 1-USA F-Ford Motor Company A-Passenger Car B-Manual Belts P45-Mustang GT Convertible E-5.0 Liter 225hp V8 5-Check Digit J-1988 F-Dearborn, MI Assy Plant 170570-Sequential Unit Number Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (thats more than 8 acres!).
