Classic Car Overview

To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys Cliveden House event, 8 July 2025.
Offered Without Reserve 50,000 - 60,000 GBP

  • One of 512 examples of the Ferrari 328 GTS made in right-hand drive; one of 6,068 from the total GTS production run spanning 1985 to 1989
  • Retains its matching-numbers 3.2-litre V-8 engine, which is paired with a gated five-speed manual gearbox
  • UK-delivered car; supplied new by Glen Henderson Motors of Scotland
  • Finished in its factory-correct colour pairing of Rosso Corsa over a Crema leather interior
  • Accompanied by its original Ferrari order documents, books and manuals, and leather tool roll

One of the last Ferraris to be engineered and launched during company founder Enzo Ferraris lifetime, the 328 series replaced the immensely popular 308 in 1985. While still featuring Maranellos transverse, mid-mounted Dino V-8 engine, the new model sported extensive performance and styling upgrades.

Designers at Pininfarina carefully balanced aesthetics with emerging research into drag coefficients and aerodynamic lift, while staying true to Ferraris design language. Leonardo Fioravantis original wedge shape was softened with a redesigned nose complemented by a matching tail valance. Bumpers were painted to match the body colour and blended with the valance panels to further modernise the design.

The enlarged 3.2-litre engine was good for a claimed 270 horsepower and capable of launching the car to 60 mph in under six seconds. Available as either a Gran Turismo Berlinetta closed coup or Gran Turismo Spider with a targa -style removable roof panel, the 328 ranked among Ferraris most popular models. Some 6,068 examples of the GTS were made, with only 512 of those completed in right-hand drive, including the car offered here.

Leaving the Ferrari factory finished in Rosso Corsa over a Crema leather interior with Red carpets the colour combination it retains today this car was imported new into the United Kingdom via Maranello Concessionaires. The 328 GTS was then supplied to the dealer Glen Henderson Motors of Edinburgh, before its first owner, Mr Alexander McDonald of Dial Office Holdings, based near Edinburgh, took delivery on 2 March 1988. The Ferrari was supplied to Mr McDonald to fulfil an original order that had been logged on Christmas Eve of 1987, and it was configured from new with air conditioning and an aerofoil spoiler.

Its first owner is recorded to have retained the Ferrari for five years, and it has since had eight subsequent keepers all based in the United Kingdom. The consigning owner acquired the 328 GTS in July 2015. In their care, the Ferrari has been maintained in accordance with the invoices available to view on file, with an important belt service and water pump replacement carried out by QV London in May 2021. The accompanying MoT certificates denote the sparing use of the Ferrari in the consigning owners care. Its 2016 test notes an odometer reading of 68,072 miles, while at the time of cataloguing it stands at 68,936 miles.

Now offered with its original Ferrari order documents, books and manuals, and leather tool roll, this 328 GTS retains its matching-numbers engine. It presents in quintessential Prancing Horse colours and is sure to appeal to fans of the marques stylish 1980s product line-up.
