By 1967, Aston Martin was ready to replace the DB6 with a more modern car with styling and V8 performance. However, the new car was initially released as the DBS, which ushered in the new look but was still equipped with the aging Inline-6 of its predecessor as the new V8 was not yet ready. This was resolved in 1969 with the release of the DBS V8, a car which sold in sufficient numbers to convince the company to drop the I6-powered DBS entirely for 1973. Thereafter, the car became the Aston Martin V8.
Styling updates for the updated, "Series 2" car included a switch to twin headlamps and a mesh grille, creating a far more purposeful-looking appearance. While styling largely remained the same until the V8 was replaced by the Virage in 1989, the company continually released updates to the car, culminating with the "Series 5" released in 1986. These cars are easily differentiated from earlier cars with their flatter hoods and Weber/Marelli fuel injection. As with all Aston Martins from this era, Series 5 V8s were produced in exceedingly small quantities, with only 56 being built for the US market.
The magnificent 1988 Aston Martin V8 Volante featured here is finished in stunning Dover White over an impeccably kept Oxblood (Deep Burgundy) leather interior with a Black power convertible top. This exquisite motorcar was just released from a world-class collection and is now ready for its next caretaker. This Aston Martin boasts only 11,264 actual miles, impeccable condition, and an outstanding color combination, making it the perfect example for any premier collection. I personally believe the investment potential of this extremely rare, one-of-59 Aston Martin will grow beyond your imagination. Offered to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the very best at an investment price!
