Classic Car Overview

This exceptional time capsule car currently resides with its third meticulous owner in sunny and dry Scottsdale, AZ.  It began life in NJ where it was owned by a collector through 2011.  The next owner had it through November of 2019 where he pampered the car and made sure it never saw inclement weather.  I have all of his extensive service receipts during his several years of ownership and he drove it only 4,200 miles.  I have owned it since November of 2019 where I bought it with approx. 38,000 miles.  It is in incredible condition and has had some thoughtful, but period correct improvements to it.  

The most major and expensive thing done was having the dashboard professionally reconditioned at the top shop in the country for this (Classic 9 Leathershop).  This project was almost $2000 and during the installation, many screws, switches and bulbs were replaced in the cockpit area so full function would exist.  It looks perfect and has received compliments from Porsche purists at shows. It is unheard of the have a 944 dashboard without cracks in it.  The 944 was also clear bra’d with Xpel PPF by one of the top installers in the world also to the tune of $2000.  The entire front end was done including the entire hood and the two full front fenders.  New clear bra stone guards on rear fenders were also installed.  Looks great!  While the former owner went through the trouble of keeping the original Blaupunkt Nashville cassette stereo (which I still have safe & sound), I chose to install a modern double-DIN Alpine system complete with backup camera, Bluetooth and USB port.  It also has a very removable powered Bazooka bass tube in the hatch.  It now has a keyless entry CodeAlarm system as well, and it is hardwired for a radar detector. The two rear bumperettes were professionally replaced and so was the shifter knob/boot.  All were exact period correct replacements. The car did not have the original exhaust system on it when I purchased it. It was a Gibson exhaust and it looked bad.  I replaced it with a Fabspeed Maxflo 3.0 Performance Exhaust system.  It is not a loud system at all, and it improved the performance of the car.  It was professionally installed and cost almost $1500 total.  I also had the original “phone dial” wheels professionally powder-coated in silver and the center caps replaced.  While the wheels were off of the car, I also had the four brake calipers powder-coated in red with bright white PORSCHE lettering (they were a dull black).  They all look amazing, though there are a few small chips in the wheel finish from light use.  In January 2021, I had a $6300 service done to have the minor leaks it had fixed, engine mounts replaced and numerous other recommended maintenance items taken care of including many seals, belts and fluids replaced too.  I have all receipts for that visit.  One minor leak still exists.  My mechanic insists it is very minor and all he does is work on yesteryear Porsches (Stuttgart Southwest).  Original headlights were replaced with modern LED lights but they look period correct when open/raised.  The A/C has recently been serviced/recharged and is ice cold.  I also added some vinyl “944 Turbo” graphics on the inner door sills to give it an optional modern touch.  These are 100% easily removeable if you don’t like them.  I also had some new Lloyds floormats made for the car with red piping and red PORSCHE branding.  They look amazing.  The car has been professionally detailed as well and currently has an anal-retentive car enthusiast of an owner (me).  It is part of a car collection.

Standard equipment includes famous Guards Red paint with a black partial leather interior.  Factory options include electric tilt/removeable sunroof, rear wiper, central locking, cruise control (not functioning) and sport shock absorbers.  The 16” phone dial wheels are wrapped in BF Goodrich G-Force Comp tires.  Updates for the 1987 model year included dual airbags and a 180mph speedometer.  The inline turbocharged 4-cyl engine was rated at 220hp back in the day.  The car runs great and is a real head-turner wherever it goes.  Some normal wear and tear exists on the car that I have not had the time to take care off.  This includes some wear on the passenger seat and a small carpet separation issue on the passenger side.  One of the fog lights as a small rock crack in it, but is not very noticeable.  The clear bra has a couple of blemishes in it during the 2000 miles of driving that I did.  The rear spoiler is a bit faded when there is no dressing on it.  The car has no foul odors and shows amazing in person.  I am happy to face time with you or send any video footage.  The odometer currently reads just over 40K miles and it has a clean CarFax.
