A dream car for many since it first hit the road in 1975, Porsches 911 Turbo quickly established itself as a global performance benchmark. Much of the cars development stemmed from Porsches factory racing program. FIA Group 4 homologation rules at the time requiring 400 road cars spurred the development of Project 930, now known as the legendary 911/930 Turbo. In production from April 1975, the Turbo married a turbocharger to the 3.0-liter Carrera RSR flat-six engine, a combination that delivered a substantial increase in power and speed over the standard 911 Carrera. In 1978, the Turbos engine was enlarged to 3.3 liters and gained an intercooler for even more power.

Porsche was forced to withdraw the 930 from North America in 1979, as it did not meet the latest exhaust emissions standards. But following the development of new electronic engine management, the Turbo returned to the United States in 1984. Although the Turbos whale tail spoiler had already been seen on the base Carrera, the interior was much more luxurious, featuring leather upholstery, air conditioning, and electric windows.

This 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe completed production in October 1986 and was originally offered for sale at Foreign Motors in Boston, according to its original window sticker on file. It notes a Guards Red exterior over a black partial leather interior and factory options of heated front seats with lumbar support, a sliding power roof, and a limited slip differential.

The Porsche would remain in New England under the care of its first two owners during the initial years of the vehicles life and appeared in Sports Car International for an article detailing the collection of the 911 Turbos second owner, Steven Leed. Sometime later, the Porsche found a new home in Arizona and was eventually sold to its current owner in 2011.

Remarkably, the odometer showed just 8,032 miles at cataloguing time, which documentation on file and service invoices dating back to 1987 indicate to be actual. The latest invoice from 2011 details the installation of new hood struts, repairs to the air conditioning system, and replacing the axle boots, among other items.

This well-preserved, low-mileage 911 Turbo Coupe in classic Porsche colors has been driven sparingly over the past 14 years of ownership and is ready for its next caretaker to continue its careful preservation or, better yet, enjoy the power and sound of its turbocharged flat six at full throttle.
