Classic Car Overview

1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible G50

This beautiful Silver Metallic over Lipstick Red Carrera was purchased by the current(4th) owner roughly 13 years ago.

In that time he's only amassed 1500 miles of the 105,000 on the odometer. He's selling it because, if it isn't obvious, he doesn't drive it enough. He keeps it at an airport, so he'll fire it up and take it for a blast down the taxiway every couple of weeks but hardly gets her out on the roads.

It is believed the car was purchased out of Boston, MA and then moved around a bit with it's first owner from NH to AZ and then to OK, where it was traded in and sold to owner 2 from a dealership. That person drove the car and registered it in AZ and then CA. It came from CA back to New England/CT to the third owner who only had the car about 6 years before selling to the current owner.

The CarFax shows a mileage discrepancy but states that it is most likely a clerical error, the true mileage is 105,990. Because a good deal of the mileage was put on this car before most places were reporting to CarFax, it doesn't show any kind of real service records before the last owner, however, there are some receipts from the second owner.

The current owner would change out the oil every couple of years (in terms of mileage that's every couple hundred miles). The current owner also has had the power top serviced, the clutch replaced, valve cover gaskets replaced, starter replaced, calipers, pads and rotors, the crankshaft position sensor, CV Boots, the belts and the rear tires.

A compression test was done when the 4th owner bought the car and found compression was 185 across 5 cylinders and 155 in another.

The plugs were replaced at that point as was the coil.

From the factory this car was ordered with a slew of options, including: AC (currently inop due to lack of R12 ), power windows, Power slotted/drilled disc brakes F&R, 4 way power, heated full leather sport seats, power mirror, special leather Lipstick Red interior,Monterey radio (no longer in car - replaced with an Alpine head unit), Limited Slip differential, High Intensity window washer, headlight washers, central electric locks, alarm (missing the alarm key), 16" Fuch aluminum wheels, auto climate control, electric top (after all switches have been replaced and the top was working at the beginning of the summer, it again is not working - it can be lowered and raised manually), cruise control, and carpet in the "frunk" as opposed to the rubber liner.

At a cold start, which fires over quite easily, there is a little smoke, that went away within a couple minutes (the car hadn't been started in over 5 months). The car runs and drives great, pulls strong, shifts easily.

Aside from the aforementioned issues, the fog lights don't operate either. All fuses are good. All other lights work as they should, horn works, cruise works, wipers work.

The original paint on this car is in stunning condition with only a few small chips that have been touched up. With the top down, the Lipstick Red interior REALLY pops.

The convertible top is also in very good condition.

This car's weakest point is the front seats. The driver's bolster is visibly worn and has a small hole, the passenger has the usual "stress cracks" that would be expected on a car with over 100K miles.

In it's current condition, IF the top, AC and fog lights worked, this would be an over $50,000 car.

Taking those items into consideration, the asking price is $47,500.
