1987 Mazda 323 GTX Hatchback

This 1987 Mazda 323 GTX is a right-hand-drive example that was imported from the UK  in 2015 and is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four driving all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a locking center differential. Equipment includes dual rear spoilers, a power-operated sunroof, four-wheel disc brakes, and bolstered front seats, while the car has been modified with a VF11 turbocharger, a Yonaka intercooler, an aftermarket exhaust system, 15″ Petrol wheels, and height-adjustable D2 coilovers. Service under current ownership is said to have included resurfacing the cylinder head along with replacing the pistons, starter, alternator, and rear brake pads. This 323 GTX is now offered with awards, import documents, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.

The car has been refinished in its current shade of silver following bodywork performed in 2018 that included repairing dents, filling in scratches in the fiberglass bodywork, replacing the windshield, and applying a rust preventative coating to the frame. A body kit with a revised front splitter, rear bumper cover, fender flares, and side skirts is fitted, and additional features include dual rear spoilers, a power-operated sunroof, pop-out side windows, and a rear wiper. The factory foglights have been removed, and graphics have been added to the exterior of the sun roof.

Black-finished 15″ Petrol wheels are wrapped in 195/50 Nankang Noble Sport N5-30 tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs, and the suspension has been modified with height-adjustable D2 coilovers and a front strut tower brace. The rear brake pads have been replaced in 2021.

The right-hand-drive cabin is upholstered in black cloth with gray inserts that extend to the door panels. Amenities include bolstered front seats, a heater, a CD stereo, and a Mazdaspeed dashboard plaque. The left-door lock sticks and work intermittently.

A MOMO steering wheel frames a 130-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and a boost gauge mounted on the steering column. The six-digit odometer shows just less than 96k miles, approximately 1k of which were added by the seller.
