Classic Car Overview
1987 Chevrolet El Camino Conquista For consignment, a 1987 Chevrolet El Camino Conquista with a title verified 73,632 actual miles and in the past three years, a recipient of a new alternator, carburetor, distributor, radiator, and A/C system. It will come to the new owner with the build sheet, invoices of repairs, and the owners manual. Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area. Exterior The distinctive two tone here is made up of Silver and Dark Gray, giving off a satin glow from its single stage application. The car side of the vehicle ends at the canted rear quarter window that is reflected in the gray C-pillar that flows seamlessly down to the bed, here flanked by side cargo rails. Each gray line is partnered with stainless trim which adds even more layers to the two tone configuration, and the rear bumper takes in the tail lights down low below the smooth tailgate with embedded plate. Heres where we find dual exhaust tips and can look out over the soft tonneau bed to cover the contours to the curved rear glass. 14-inch wheels are wrapped in 205/70R14 tires and are adorned with a bowtie on the red center cap. Overall, the body, paint and metal are in good shape. Imperfections include bubbles, mismatched patches, and fillers that have heavily chipping paint. Interior It may have an unusual shape on the outside, but the inside is right out of the GM playbook, starting with the door panels in gray vinyl and carpeted kick panels that could have been borrowed from any Monte Carlo or Regal of the day, and both here are in great shape. Gray velour buckets have tufted panels and extra side pillowing more for comfort than support, and a center armrest stowed out of the way when not in use or to make room for your significant other to shimmy over. The quintessential 80s steering wheel leads to a nicely appointed but basic gauge cluster, black on black with red needles, white writing, and orange in places of caution, like at 55 mph. The center stack is the GM box with A/C levers over an aftermarket AM/FM/CD player. With a column shifter, the floor is open and covered in gray carpet which flows over the transmission hump and is in nice condition. The felt headliner and visors show some typical sag and indentations. The bed is rough coated and in generally clean condition. Drivetrain Under the hood is a clean 305ci V8, topped by an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and rated at 150 horsepower. Its mated to a 200R4 4-speed automatic transmission sending power to the 10 bolt rear with 2.56 gears. Power brakes are supplied as front discs and rear drums. Undercarriage Heavy metals are coated with typical surface rust on the otherwise dry underside where dual exhaust runs in tandem through FlowMaster mufflers before finding their way out back via chrome tips. There is no catalytic converter on board. Suspension consists of coil springs in front and a 4 link with coil springs in the back. We note some light rust at the pinch welds on the door bottoms. Drive-Ability Business up front, party in the back! Or is it the other way around? Either way, this cabin is like an abbreviated G-body with no kids in the back seat to distract us. The El Camino pulls nicely with plenty of power for commutes, but red light warriors might see some goose eggs in the win column. But she does have a nice rumble and the only thing we find not working in the horn. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Using some of our 10th grade Spanish, we learned El Camino translates to the path and Conquista means Conquest. So, if youre ready to conquer the path ahead of you and do so in the now legendary car/truck configuration thats been imitated but never duplicated, pick up this Conquista and have yourself a collectible with a bed! 3GCCW80H6HS913771 3-Mexico G-General Motors C-Chevrolet C-4001-5000 GVWR W-El Camino 80-1/2 Ton Pickup Delivery H-305ci V8 4bbl 6-Check Digit H-1987 S-Ramos Arizpe, Mexico Assy Plant 913771-Sequential Unit Number Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (thats more than 8 acres!).
