Classic Car Overview

1987 Chevrolet Silverado R10 1987 was an interesting year for the C/K series of Chevrolet pickup trucks. This full size pickup was introduced in 1959 with the third generation ending in 1987. They continued to be produced until 2002 but 87 marked the end for the 2 door conventional cab truck. Due to this they renamed it the R/V series. So while many would look at this truck and call it a C or K10 it is actually an R10. The name change wasnt the only difference however because the electric throttle body fuel injection and powertrain control module were also incorporated into the trucks. This makes it a unique pickup that was born at a time when Chevrolet was incorporating more modern features and transitioning to new designs. So if you are looking for a nice square body pickup this is the model to get to make sure you have the box look with all of the greatest available for the times. This very nice Silverado R10 was built by Rad Rods of Texas and actually belongs to the owner. So not only was it professionally built but was made personally for the owner of the company so you know no expense spared. The truck had a complete restoration in 2019 and although the cab was not removed from the frame during the build, the bed was. Everything is extremely solid and it is just one of those vehicles you can tell was built right. The paint is a Brown Bronze Metallic base coat/clear coat which has a beautiful finish. Depending on how the light hits it the truck can almost go from a really dark Brown, almost Black to a nice copper color. They added a steel 2 inch cowl hood and new bumpers. In fact, all of the stock style chrome and trim throughout is new. All of the glass is good as well and the weatherstripping entirely redone to ensure everything seals perfectly. The truck rides on custom 20 inch Ridler wheels and a new set of Nitto tires. Pushing this pickup down the road is the original 5.7 350 V8 that runs very well. As mentioned above this was the first year for a factory fuel injected throttle bottle which is all functioning properly. The motor has been freshened up and all resealed. It runs very well with zero issues. It is paired with a rebuilt 700R4 automatic transmission with overdrive. For the most part the drive train has been kept mostly stock with only a few minor changes. The AC system was fully replaced to accommodate modern frion which included a new AC compresser, dryer, lines and blower. The original dual gas tanks were also modified and reduced to only 1 tank. If you have ever owned one of these older dual gas tank vehicles you will know those system can often be a problem so converting to 1 is a very common occurrence. The truck has power brakes on all 4 wheels with discs up front. It also has a new power steering box which makes driving the pickup very comfortable. The interior of the truck has been completely redone. It nicely incorporates a somewhat factory style with customizations. It has a Snowden bench seat which is very comfort
