Windy City Warriors

From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Classic Car Overview

GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this rare, one owner 1987 Buick Grand National. As the old saying goes, you can have any color you want as long as its black. This Grand National is not exempt from that rule. Complimenting the jet black paint job is a stunning gray and black interior. Powering this Buick is the legendary 3.8 cubic inch Turbo V6 mated to an automatic transmission. Upgrades to the motor include an upgraded turbo, bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump and a more aggressive tune. Additional features of the Grand National include power disc brakes, power windows, power steering as well as working heat and A/C. The Buick Grand National platform is becoming increasingly harder to find. Dont miss your opportunity to own one because you may not get another. Please call or email us today for more information.

In 1982, the Regal Grand National debuted, which was named for the NASCAR Winston Cup Grand National Series (the "Grand National" term was part of the Cup series nomenclature until 1986). Buick had won the Manufacturers Cup in 1981 and 1982, and wanted to capitalize on its success: "What wins on Sunday, sells on Monday". After a brief sort of experimental run, the Grand National returned with an ahead of its time turbocharged 3.8 liter V8 matching power of the big V8s. While restrictions were high at the time, these mean road warriors were definitely in the front of the muscle car pack in the 1980s.
