1987 BMW 535i Sedan

This BMW 535i was transported from Germany to Texas in 1987 and has been a Texas resident for the past 37 years. The car had 3 previous owners with no accidents or water damage, and has a clean Texas title.

Sadly, this car was parked under a carport and not driven for 10 years by the previous owner, a neighbor. In 2020, we rescued this neglected car. It was time to bring this iconic BMW 535i E28 back to to the glory it so deserves.

Listed is an overview of the work performed:

The 3.5L M30 182 hp engine was dismantled to checked for wear and tear. Any worn parts were replaced. Engine was reassembled with new gaskets and seals.
5-speed manual transmission was removed, flywheel inspected, pilot bearing replaced, replaced complete clutch assembly, replaced hydraulic slave cylinder and replaced all shifter linkage bushings.¨
Rebuilt fuel delivery system, including fuel tank.
Rebuilt complete front suspension and rear suspension with new springs and Bilstein shocks.
Replaced exhaust system with Billy Boat performance cat back exhaust system with polished round tips.
Rebuilt engine cooling system and air conditioning system completely. Air conditioner compressor bracket was modified to support a USA Sanden 508 compressor making it easier to service the system.
The original fuse box, with hard to find round fuses, was modernized with a blade fuse box kit (see picture).
Replaced old headliner with new headliner.
New carpet installed throughout the car with handmade floor mats from CocoMats.
Old leather upholstery was replaced with new leather upholstery and seat padding replaced where needed.
Replaced all door, window and trunk seals.
The car was repainted with the original color of Bronzit Beige 139
The odometer stopped working and has been repaired. Total actual mileage is unknown.

Also, Alpina styling was added to this E28. The spoiler is a replica Alpina spoiler fitted only for a E28 model. View the pictures and you will agree this spoiler brings out the sporty look on this car. To further compliment this car, are the Alpina style rims. Front rims are sized 7x16, rear rims are 8x16. The rims are certified from German TÜV who performs the toughest wheel tests in the world. The tires are new BF Goodrich G-Force Comp-2 tires with speed rating up to 168 mph. Hello autobahn!

This 535i has electric sunroof, electric windows and mirrors, and power seats. In addition, a new Kenwood in-dash CD/DM receiver with built in bluetooth, satellite ready radio and detachable face plate with new 4 speakers. A trunk tool kit and owners manual will accompany the vehicle.

As you can see, the work performed is quite extensive. Parts alone are valued at $45,000 backed by receipts available to the buyer. As a German master mechanic of Mercedes/BMW, the knowledge and labor allowed this uncared for car to shine and celebrate the beauty of a BMW 535I.
