Classic Car Overview
This car was purchased new in Connecticut from the dealership in 1986. The sellers long-time best friend was the first owner.
We are told that the original owner nor the current owner ever drove this 944 in snowy conditions, it was driven only from late spring to early fall seasons.
The original owner had this car for 16 years and kept it with utmost care.
The current owner witnessed the care that went into this car and was fond of 944s, so he was first in line when it sold.
After officially becoming the second owner, the seller continued to keep this car in pristine condition. He only drove it in the summer as well, and parked with a car cover in his garage.
I am reporting that this 944 has a rebuilt title. Back in August of 2018, the car was sitting in the 3-car garage in its designated space with its car cover on when a fire broke out inside the garage. Luckily, the other two cars in the garage were closest to the fire.
The heat from the blaze melted the car cover onto the passenger side of the 944. The paint was ruined. The fire department extinguished the fire in time to save the 944.
The owner demanded the insurance company to repaint the car through the most prestigious local paint shop. The paint shops estimate forced the insurance company to total the car.
The owner was devastated at the insurance companys decision. So, he negotiated to buy the car back from the insurance company.
After several months and lots of paperwork the car received its rebuilt title. By then, the owner retired to Florida and had the car shipped here.
Now the owner was ready to invest in the new paint.
There was zero damage to the interior or to any of the trim. However, the windshield got delaminated along the trailing edge on the passengers side.
When the car was repainted, the owner decided to change the color from Gray to Porsche factory color Conda Green.
The owner spent a fortune on the color change and left the windshield alone because he figured one day he might get a stone chip and the insurance company would replace it for free.
The paint has been done superbly and there are no traces of damages ever existing.
Both the front and rear seats were reupholstered in a green Le Mans plaid to perfectly compliment the Conda Green.
There are absolutely zero strange smells or stains anywhere.
The dashboard does not have any cracks or bubbles and the instrument cluster does not have any haze or damage.
The hatchback opens and closes with zero issues and the trunk area is great. The factory original trunk cover is also still intact and operational.
A front nose cover (bra) and removable roof panel storage bag were stored in the trunk as well.
Overview of my opinions:
starts up with no hesitation ~ doesnt need any extra effort or finesse, starts like a well preserved Porsche should
great power delivery ~ no hesitation or sputtering at all
the steering is precise ~ nice, tight, and sporty with absolutely no slop or play
fantastic suspension ~ no weird noises or clunks and takes corners with ease
the brakes are superb ~ they stop quickly and there is no grinding or fuss
the interior is like new ~ there are no stains, rips, or missing pieces
zero funky odors ~ no old European car smells at all
the doors close without slamming ~ no issues with hinges, handles, or latches
100% non-smoker car
