The success of the 911 SC not only revitalized Porsche as whole, but proved the 911 was here to stay. For the 1984 model year, the company announced the SCs successor: the Carrera 3.2. Essentially every element of the car received updates. As expected from the new name, the engine received the most notable change, with a displacement increase, updated fuel injection, and a new ignition controller raising output to 207hp in US-spec (versus 180hp for the American-market SC).
