If you're a fan of vintage Japanese cars, be sure to check out Nissan's online heritage site. There are tons of vintage Nissan pics and specs going all the way back to the 1920s. Each featured car or truck has relevant specs and a little "detail" tab that gives some background on that specific car.
The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.
Classic Car Overview
The auto trader app made us list this car as a 1986 London taxi FX 4. But it’s really a 2002 London Taxi TX2. It has a 2.4 litre Ford diesel Turbo engine. There is an air conditioner compressor hooked to the engine but it doesn’t have a belt on it. I was told when I bought it that it does work but I can’t guarantee it. These taxis have only 88 hp so I suspect the belt was taken off to gain more power. My daughter and I drove this car for 23 hours and 50 minutes straight, stopping only for fuel, and the temperature was -26 below Fahrenheit at some times and snow. The taxi performed flawlessly. It is a right hand drive and A blast to drive. I have an operators manual that I printed out that explains a lot about the taxi. There is some surface rust, although not too bad, and the Lion King vinyl graphics could stand replacing. It has a working CD player and an auxiliary input port but the radio is from London so it picks up very few channels. I had an extra seat installed in the front where the luggage compartment was so It seats seven people including the driver. These taxis were made for short drivers, I’m 5‘7“ And it fits me fine. But the seats aren’t adjustable since there is a wall behind them. There is a microphone/intercom that is controlled by the driver to talk to passengers. There is a sliding window between the passenger compartment and driver. These 2002 taxis are very rare in the US as they have to come in through a Registered Importer and is quite expensive. The last 2002 I saw that sold in the US went for $22,000 and it was just plain black. This one is Pacific Metallic Blue with Yellow and black vinyl Disney the Lion King graphics. I have a clear Virginia title with no liens. The Vin number is SCRT3B6ME1C150054. The no haggle price is only $10,995. Feel free to call or text me at 276-618-4276 eastern time. Randy
