1986 Chevrolet S10 Pickup Presenting as a wolf in sheeps clothing, this truck is anything but fuel efficient, nor does it even have a thought as to the Arab oil embargo! This truck can be used on the street or the strip and is a far cry from its humble beginnings as a light duty hauler. Showing 187,382 non verifiable miles and sporting a non original 2-speed automatic, a 350ci V8 with some bolt on performance goodies, very nice paint, like new exhaust and like new wheel and tires, this pint sided hauler is presently poised for takeoff in our South Mallway. This truck is ready to haul a lot of things, but mostly ass. Exterior Lets start upfront, a very good place to start, where we see a simplified horizontal and vertical ribbed grille with mesh backing, single flanking headlights and a shiny front bumper in chrome and a black chin spoiler below. A steel cowled hood, straight steel fenders and doors with miles of retina searing orange paint that encompasses the entire truck. Gaps are all well minded, and the windows are lightly tinted. The bed inside is exposed for the world to see, which is lined with a black spray in liner and drop in fuel cell. Jegs Sport Star wheels are wrapped in the back with Toyo Proxes 275/60R15 tires and skinny Sport Star wheels and rubber on the front. A clean smooth tailgate emblazoned with a S10 callout in gold and chrome is flanked on either side by the factory tail lights and down below is a blingy chrome bumper. Interior This truck retains most of its stock charm and utilitarian style with black plastic and vinyl panels throughout the interior. The door panels are as stock as they come and look showroom new with a mix of black plastic, charcoal tuck and roll broadcloth and carpeting. Turning our attention to the inside, we see the later model charcoal black bucket seat firmly wrapped in black tuck and roll broadcloth with some snappy colors and swirling added. A folding armrest console sits in the center of the bench and can be easily folded up when room for a 3rd passenger is needed. A later model leather rimmed steering wheel sits proudly atop the original column and an attached tachometer hangs right on the top of said column. In the center of the dash is the factory AM/FM/Cassette stereo and a trio of gauges are mounted to the drivers A-pillar. The Hurst ratchet style shifter setup floating in a sea of black carpet. Now the party is really rollin. Last one in the pool with a suit on is a rotten egg! Drivetrain In keeping with the unique and the straight line go fast theme, under the hood we note a 350ci V8 with a polished aluminum intake manifold and a new single Holley 4-barrel carburetor atop. A Powerglide 2-speed automatic is on back. The rear axle is a 10-bolt design. The engine is shiny and bright with chromed valve covers, chromed air cleaner cover, and nice headers. Supple hoses for fuel delivery ensure plenty of fossils feed the engine. Undercarriage All black and all solid underneath with the frame and floor pans are structurally sound and only minor surface rust on the usual suspects. Power disc brakes are here upfront as well as independent coil spring suspension and on the rear and power drum brakes and leaf springs. Seen are headers and clean new dual Flowmaster mufflers to ensure you will be not only seen but heard. Drive-Ability In a word...fast and loud, but that was two words, and I digress.... This custom S-10 smoked the test track and the tires and worked all just swimmingly. All functions were working as they should, and it was an exciting test drive, which when finished, left with a smile on our faces.
