Classic Car Overview
For consignment, a family owned truck bought new at Lehighton, PA based Kovatch Chevrolet in 1986. This truck had an engine replacement about 10 years ago. It has been all cared for and served regularly so says the consignor. Exterior A respray of light blue now adorns mostly rust free exterior panels, that have signs of rust repair, (nicely done), and just a bit of rust on the driver s door underside. This truck is a two wheel drive, short bed two door version and it is sporting an aftermarket cap over the bed, also in shades of blue. Trimmings look good, chrome is shiny and bright, and metal gaps are well minded. The cap has some nifty triangulated tufted patterning within its side panels and a swing up door above the swing down tailgate. A touch plastic bedliner is on protecting the bed and tailgate. 15-inch 5 bolt wheels are on with shiny trim rings and a bowtie badged center hub. These wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Tracker 2 rubber from the 33rd week of 2011. Interior A blanket covered front bench is stretching from door panel to door panel and is texture stitched blue with some various shades of tan and brown triangle pattern as inserts if you will. Upfront is the original dash with its round inset gauges within a 3 panel angled wrap around the steering wheel dash which are all in black. A padded dash top is in blue and looking crack free. Within this dash is an AM/FM upgraded stereo and hanging below the dash is a CB radio. This all floats in gold colored carpeting which is clean and cushy. The headliner is body matching blue stamped steel and all rubber gaskets are supple and looking tight. Drivetrain Under the hood in a clean and original unrestored engine bay now sits a 4.3L V6 crate engine. On top of a Quadrajet 4 barrel carburetor and on back is a TH400 3 speed automatic transmission. The rear axle is a 10 bolt version from Chevy. Undercarriage Underneath some patina, slight very light surface rust mostly on the usual suspects and black undercoated stamped straight structural steel. Independent coil springs are in front, and leaf springs in back for this truck. Power disc braking is provided upfront, and on back power drum braking is noted. A stock single exhaust works its way from the newer, (replaced about 10 years ago), mill to the back of the truck. Drive-Ability Starts right up, and runs great with smooth acceleration, bias free panic stopping, easy steering with the power steering option. No known obvious frowns at the time of this test drive. A fine example with a kind of retro cap, and a newer V6 mill. One family owned since new, and well cared for. I could only hear that discussion You can have Pop Pops truck but youd better take of it! And they did! Now ripe for the C-10 picking. 2GCD14N1G1218208 2-Canada G-General Motors C-Chevrolet Truck D-5001 Thru 6000 GVWR 1-1/2 Ton 4-Pickup N-4.3 Liter V6 1-Check Digit G-1989 1-Oshawa, Ontario, Canada Assy Plant 218208-Sequential Unit Number
