Classic Car Overview

Over $40K in receipts. This car runs, drives and presents beautifully turning heads wherever she goes. A gorgeous Diamond Blue Metallic exterior over navy interior with navy soft top and original hardtop, 560 upgrade chrome wheels with newer Michelin tires, along with the original 'Bundt' allow rims to go along with in case the new owner chooses a more original look. This car sat undriven and covered for a long time prior to my owning it, hence low 89K original miles. Being idle for so long necessitated a completely remanufactured Mercedes-Benz 380 engine to factory specs by Metric Motors, Inc. and Swiss Motors in West Los Angeles. At the same time, the transmission was rebuilt. Items replaced are too numerous to mention: new MBZ radiator, new muffler, along with a litany of belts, hoses, plugs, wires, pumps, gaskets, brakes, reservoirs, switches, modules. All receipts to back up the work are neatly organized in a binder with newest work at top. Mileage in at rebuild was 84,476. The car has traveled only 5K on the rebuild, so you are essentially bidding on a 'like new' car. There are no fluid leaks. This is a very trustworthy drive for weekends or as a driver. AC works, blowing cold from the two perimeter and center windshield vents. Heat works perfectly. A Blaupunkt detachable face stereo CD and MP3 player is adequate and offers a USB port for newer mobile phones. The front speakers must have been replaced at some point behind orig MBZ grills. Power antenna mast works well. Seats have been beautifully reupholstered in factory correct fashion. Soft top was replaced and has crystal clear windows. An ignition immobilizer and alarm with remote were added for increased worry free security. Dash burl pieces have been replaced in recent years and present beautifully. There is a newer dash cap to neaten up the dash. At some point the car was repainted. The paint on the car is presentable and glossy.

I believe the original ABS may be inoperable. I have never explored fixing it because it's not necessary to drive or stop the car.

Besides getting the cold air through the center vents, which I have also never explored since it's not my main daily driver, looking ahead (in about a year or so) it would be good to add new shocks. The car drives perfectly fine now, but I feel it's good to mention everything I know.

Along those lines, this is a 40 year old great German classic car. I love it and hate to be parting with it now, but remember that while it looks good and drives great, it's not perfect. Buying a car like this is a commitment. I believe I have done all the heaviest lifting for this car to have a new lease on life for another generation. Surely there will be things a new owner will want to take on in the future, but whoever gets this car is seriously fortunate to step into all the work done in the time I've owned it. I believed I would have her forever.

Besides the 4x original rims, original Becker stereo, master key, 2 alarm remotes, books and records, winning bid gets a garage cart for the hardtop complete with cover for it when the hardtop is not on the car, which for me has been always.
