Classic Car Overview
1985 Chevrolet K20 Silverado 4X4 Pickup
In recent decades, trucks have been gaining considerable interest in the eyes of collectors, offering many of the same components as the muscle and sports cars they love, at a lower price and with far greater practicality. Chevrolets C/K trucks have led the way with the C10 from the Action Line era one of the first to see mass appreciation, and the later Rounded Line trucks like this 1985 K20 Silverado 4X4 coming up right behind them.
This K20 just came out of a complete restoration under the care of the consignor and is finished in a deep shade of Midnight Black. The truck was built to show-quality with even panel gaps around the vehicle and a fully finished undercarriage and engine bay. Of course, although the car was restored to a very high standard, it still received a great slate of upgrades to make it look more aggressive and more capable off-road. The truck sits up on a 6-inch lift with Rancho Shocks, while a set of 20-inch Fuel wheels with 35-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler tires sit in front of power disc brakes. The chrome bumpers with overriders shine like the day they came out of the showroom.
As these were intended to be work trucks when new, the interior is quite simple, with a charcoal cloth bench seat sitting behind a basic dashboard with aluminum-look trim. In front of the driver is a 2-spoke steering wheel with a column shifter, tilt column, and cruise control is also fitted to this truck. Open the glovebox and you find the original equipment tag still affixed to the inside - a feature that is typically long gone on a truck of this vintage.
Under the hood sits a 350ci V8 that has been upgraded with a 4bbl carburetor, aluminum intake and headers with a true dual-exhaust system. As previously mentioned, the whole engine bay is finished and looks very tidy beneath the hood. Power is sent through a 3-speed TH400 automatic gearbox to a four wheel drive system with a locking center diff, 4.10 rear axles and Warn locking front hubs. With a setup like this, this K20 is capable of some serious off roading.
Due to the nature of why people buy trucks - being used as work vehicles or off roading - most Chevy trucks of this era havent survived. This K20 has not only survived, but it has become a stunning example of what GM was capable of at the time and takes what was a functional, basic truck and brings it up a few notches. If you are looking for a unique collectible to add to your garage, this K20 may be the truck for you.
