Classic Car Overview
- 121hp at 4,250 RPM, 170 ft lb at 3,250 RPM
- 2 door coupe
- This model is an early model E30. It has what they call the diving board bumpers rather than the late model European bumpers.
- 5 speed manual transmission
- Original color (beige) but has been repainted in the past 8 years (new paint in near perfect condition).
- The body is in perfect condition and has no dents or scratches.
- New suspension
- New brake master cylinder
- Timing belt replaced
- New clutch within the past couple of years.
- Interior cooling / heating fan replaced
- 15" Beyern/BMW Mesh Alloy Wheels
- Tires have very low mileage
- Interior seats have nice seat covers, but driver side has wear in the seat cover.
- Over the past 5 years Ive been running ethanol free gas in it and it runs very smoothly. Ethanol-free gas will help the engine components last longer and prevent corrosion, especially considering the car was made during a time there was no ethanol in gas.
- The odometer currently reads ~236k miles, but speedometer has been working only intermittently, as of late. I replaced the odometer gears and the odometer works great, but there is an issue with the speedometer and odometer getting power. It only works occasionally and chooses random times to start working. While the odometer currently reads ~236k miles, keep in mind that new mileage is only registered when the odometer and speedometer are getting power and working. I estimate the mileage to be maybe ~2k more than it currently reads.
There are a few trim pieces missing on the interior, driver side door pocket, a cover where the cigarette lighter was, a small cover next to the hazard lights, cover for below the steering where a lot of the wiring is housed.
- The headliner in the interior has some tears and probably needs to be replaced or repaired at some point
- The dash has cracks in it. However, I do have a nice dash cover over it now and it looks great as is
- The lock to the trunk is off (for now). The trunk can still be open, closed, and used, but it doesnt lock (for now). The locking mechanism just needs to be repaired (I still have it and the keys to the car fit it). I've heard its simple take to a locksmith and get it fixed. I never did it because I actually liked the convenience of itoddly enough.
- When I first bought it, someone had ripped out all the moon roof mechanisms and had held the top on with a 2x4 screwed to the top. When I got it quoted to be fixed, it was very expensive and I didnt have the money or parts to do it. Instead, I turned that part into a rag top. The top is a nice leather rag top and it can pop off and you can slide the moon roof back. Its not perfect, but its actually another quirky feature I love on the car.
- Over the past decade it has primarily been in a garage protected from the elements. During the few times it wasn't, I covered it with a nice weatherproof car cover. It's just shy of being a 40 year old car. It's not perfect but it's incredibly reliable and so amazingly fun to drive.
