VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

Classic Car Overview

1986 Range Rover, 5 speed manual transmission, 3.5 V8 fuel injection, imported from Italy.

A short briefing on history of the car. This was a one owner car, the original owner took delivery on December 1985,drove it for 20 years and then appears to have resprayed a portion of the car, changed tires, serviced it and garaged it for 12 years before a dealer in Italy bought the car. They serviced the car with all new fluids and had to have fuel injectors and gas tank cleaned, and replaced a few small parts like fuel pump.

I bought it from the dealer in Italy.

The following items were replaced/addressed when I got the car to the USA:

All oil leaks with the exception of a drip every couple of days from the transfer case.

Power steering box.

Seals for input and output shafts.

Replaced all fluids.

Spark plugs, rotors, wires etc.

Front and rear brake pads, rear disks.

Springs and shocks.

Replaced all 4 headlights (kept old ones)

The car passed Connecticut inspection and was registered about 2 months ago.

Condition of car:

All interior seats, carpets etc. are original and in excellent condition.

Mechanically the car is in excellent condition.

Body is also a 9 out of 10 with no rust dents or scratches (there are a few small bubbles on the back upper rear gate)

Underbody is a 9 out of 10 with only surface rust you would find on a 2-3 year old car.

Interior seats, carpets, headliners are in excellent shape.

Interior trim: I would like to source a few trims, mostly in the center console.

All electrics work but the following: one window is inoperative (rear), oil light is not functioning, and rear wipers while they work but slow.

AC needs Freon, but being its R12, I would change to R134 because the AC parts for this car are extremely affordable, (compressor which is typically the most expensive part costs $200)

Some of the above may get resolved if it takes time to sell, I have little time, but when I do, I typically address one item at a time.

I will post additional photos when I have time.
