Windy City Warriors

From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Savoy Faire is Everywhere

The no-frills Savoy two-door sedan was home to another engine of considerable repute, the infamous 413 Max Wedge, a Super Stock monster block Chrysler introduced in the spring of 1962.

Classic Car Overview

The original SUV. A pickup truck chassis with a distinctively car like station wagon design that made it like no other 4x4 on the market. It would end up being in production for 29 years with very few changes! Eventually, everyone else caught on and started building them. But here is a shining example of one of the originals. The Granddaddy of them all. A Grand Wagoneer. The look of this truck could be described as stately . You could see it pulling up out in the field to shoot some clay pigeons or pulling the Chris Craft down to the lake. Maroon is the perfect color as a compliment to the woodgrain sides creating this classic look. The paint has a nice shine to it and there is some metal flake in the clear coat. Up front a bold chrome grill of horizontal lines is surrounded by trim that follows the signature bulge of the hood. Single headlights and fog lights mounted on the bumper ensure great visibility on dark country roads at night. There is a roof rack for luggage or maybe a canoe, and the fold down tailgate makes a great bench to set the guns and pigeons on, or to sit on and eat lunch. There is a receiver for a trailer hitch and Grand Wagoneer badging appears on the front fenders as well as on the tailgate. Open the door and you will find a rich, leather trimmed interior that will carry you wherever you want to go in comfort and style. The tan door panel sets the pattern with woodgrain along the top as well as accenting the panel and armrest. The front bucket seats are power operated and upholstered in glove soft leather with maroon inserts and tan bolsters and headrests. The leather wrapped steering wheel has a wood horn button with Jeep in the center. It is mounted on a tilt column with the shifter for the automatic transmission and stalk for the cruise control. Behind it more woodgrain houses the speedometer in the center flanked by engine gauges. Ventilation controls are to the left and a glove box is within reach of the driver in the center. Low on the dash are the controls for the 4WD as well as the air conditioning. Back seat passengers also get the royal treatment and will certainly be comfortable with plenty of room to stretch out. Open the hood and you will find a 360 cubic inch motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. It is all stock and well maintained with just over 73,000 actual miles on it. There is a flat black air cleaner with the flex hose channeling fresh air to it from the grill. That air flows through a 2-barrel carburetor that provides good low-end torque and then flows on to stock heads designed to do the same thing. New plugs, cap and wires assure good spark and there are newer belts and hoses as well. The factory A/C compressor has been converted to R134. This engine compartment is super clean and almost looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. Underneath, long, multi-leaf springs and solid axles both front and rear are strong and reliable. Power front disc brakes provide good stopping ability and the rubber meets the road through 235/75R15 white wall tires on 6-lug alloy wheels with Jeep center caps. The original SUV. It is a classic that can still get the job done, and gets it done with style. Come on down and check this Jeep out.
