Classic Car Overview
For Sale As Is: 1984 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade 4.2L I-6 5-speedmanual transmission 4X4. VIN: 1JCCF87E9ET05XXXX
We bought the Jeep in about 2003. In the last 18 years, wehave hardly used the Jeep (probably have only put about 800 miles on it), so itis time to sell it. The Jeep has justunder 117,000 miles showing on the odometer. Because of the sitting, the engine seized up and was rebuilt in March of2014. At that time, the block, crankshaft, radiator, carburetor and intake manifold were rebuilt. The water pump, alternator, power steering pump, plug wires, spark plugs, ignition coil, motor mounts, front wheel bearings, calipers, rotors, brake pads, accessory belt, fuel pump, fuelsending unit, thermostat, driver side mirror, bikini top and distributor capwere replaced. The battery was replaced October 2021. The best I can tell, everything works as you would expect (for an almost 40 year old vehicle) exceptfor the following: the radio does not work; the windshield frame has a lot ofholes drilled in it; the tires (32 X 11.50 R 15’s) though they have a lot oftread still on them are old and seem like they are a bit too wide for the Jeep( I thought I felt them rub one time in a parking lot when I turned the wheelsall the way to the stops - the Jeep originally came with 235/75R15’s which iswhat the spare tire is); there is surface rust under the paint or comingthrough in about 5-6 places (each spot around the size of a quarter to halfdollar); not sure about the accuracy of the fuel gauge, it read Empty, I filledthe gas tank all the way, which took 16 gallons, the fuel gauge read Full (Ibelieve the tank is 20 gallons, so I think when I put the fuel sending unit in,I did not properly adjust it for the tank); there is a tiny bit of smoke whenthe engine first starts up (not sure if a valve guide seal is bad or the newpiston rings just are not seated yet); when we bought the Jeep someone had tackwelded a patch panel over the rusted out part of the driver’s floor board, sowe had the patch panel cut out, the rusted area removed and a new floor boardwelded in and seam sealed and painted; when I replaced the front calipers andpads, it seemed like the parts that matched what came off of the Jeep wereslightly different from what O’Reilly’s showed for that year (I have receiptswith the part numbers that I put back on the jeep), so that makes me wonder ifthe front differential was replaced at some point); finally, if the Jeep’sbattery is left connected overnight, the battery drains (so there is somethingturned on that I have not run down). Also, I have a set of hard doors and ahard top for the Jeep. The top and doorsare in rough shape, so the buyer is welcome to them at no additional cost ifthey want them.
