VW Kombi Van Seeing Resurgence in Popularity

The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

Classic Car Overview

This 50th AE 300ZX is in excellent shape. I purchased it a couple years ago and had some professional work done on it and now I need to simplify my life. The decision to sell it was difficult. It came from California. The body is in very good shape. It's the original paint and looks awesome! The body lines and straight, the pin striping and decals are in excellent shape. I had it professionally tinted. All original body and interior except I overlaid the center armrest with a custom fit leather armrest. It can be removed and the original armrest is underneath and in good shape. The car runs great! I drive it about once or twice a month and only when it's dry out. It's a fast car - the turbo works and sounds great! The digital dash works great. The talking car voice is great - loud and clear and works every instance that it should. There's so much to say so I hope I don't leave anything out. The car just runs great! When I first got it, it felt like it had too much slack in the driveline. So I had several good professionals check it out. In the end I replaced the driveshaft (probably didn't need to but I wanted to make the driveline as fresh as possible), put in a Stage 2 clutch (louder than stock but lighter and quicker), new flywheel, new trans mount, new subframe bushings, new differential mount and also a fully rebuilt differential (same exact type for that year/version). The diff is also painted blank. The engine mounts look good. I cleaned the AFM with the special cleaner, put in a new battery, some fuseable links, new alternator, new CV shaft on rear. It comes with a custom fit high-end windshield accordion style shade. It comes with almost brand new original 50th AE floor mats. Only used them a few times. I then bought custom fit black mats to use in order to keep the original AE ones nice. I have brand new rear hatch struts ready to put on. The current ones still work most of the time, so I haven't put on the new ones yet. The T Tops are also in excellent shape. They even came with their original vinyl blank storage sleeves, the original shade inserts and the roof latch locks on both sides. Also comes with: an original Workshop manual, spare tire, like-new original tire change kit (never used it appears), an original working retractable cargo cover. No rips or tears. Front hood struts works great! AC is cold and works normally. Antifreeze was changed 1 year ago along with the whole process of changing the timing belt, water pump, AC belt, power steering belt, alternator belt, camshaft seals, crankshaft seals, etc. transmission fluid and oil changed, new differential has new pil in it. Underbody rust protection was done sometime ago and still holds up really well. There are a few rust spots under the car that are minor. See photos. I had to rust spots professionally fixed. Trunk latch and gas flap whatever works perfectly. I don't have a key for the back hatch. For some reason it did not come with one. I have an original 50th anniversary key and an original Nissan key both for starting the car. The radio does not power on but I believe it did when I got the car. I've never used it I've only noticed when I was writing up this description. The power antenna does make sound when you flip the switch but does not move. It's been kept in my new pole barn with a cover on it. Tires are in great shape. The leather is in great shape, no tears or weird spots than I've seen. I've used the proper leather treatment on it. The original adjustable shocks work great - all 3 modes! You can make it stiff/sporty, neutral, or floaty like an old Cadillac. Headlights raise and lower normally. There are some minor nicks in the paint that I didn't notice until I looked for any in order to put this ad up. They are very small. I show them in the pictures. Spoiler is very nice, no cracks or anything. Nice and shiny. Oil changed properly, clutch slave cylinder and master cylinder replaced. Power mirrors work. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Please see the video for an exterior walkaround, start up, revving, and driving. Engine and exhaust sounds awesome! It's a beautiful car and in excellent shape. I would not hesitate to drive it long distances if I needed to.
