Classic Car Overview

This 1983 Volvo 240 DL, with only 1,464 original miles, is a pristine example of one of Volvos most iconic models. It represents a bygone era of automotive engineering and stands out for its impeccable condition and unique factory test color, making it a true collectors item. Finished in Dark Brown with a Beige Cloth Interior, it has had one owner from new, and the chassis number is YV1AX8848D2922901.

The car was originally sold through Frank Demma Volvo in Addison, Illinois, and has spent its entire life in a garage in the western suburbs of Chicago. Driven only 1,464 miles, it has never been exposed to inclement weather. The original owner, a friend of the current owner, purchased the car on a whim in 1983, captivated by its distinctive build and appearance compared to American cars of the time. He drove it sparingly, preserving it among his collection of vehicles.

All original documentation is included, such as the window sticker, service and warranty book, maintenance manual and booklet (documenting all service history), owners manual, and additional manuals and booklets.

The exterior of the car retains its original factory Dark Brown (Code 616) paint, a test color for 1984 models, making it exceptionally rare. All body panels are free of dents, ripples, and rust, with original paint verified by meter readings. The glass, seals, and trim (stainless steel, chrome, and rubber) are in excellent condition.

The interior features a Beige Cloth (Code 352) that is in near-new condition, with no defects or wear. The original carpet and door panels are immaculate, and all accessories function perfectly, including windows and trunk components.

The undercarriage is solid, well-preserved, and corrosion-free, with the original undercoating still intact. The fuel tank was replaced with an OEM part; the original tank, cleaned and tested, is included in the sale.

The original 4-cylinder, 2.3-liter engine has been meticulously maintained and is in perfect working order. The engine compartment is in original condition, showcasing a detailed and clean presentation. The automatic transmission operates flawlessly, befitting a low-mileage vehicle.

The car still wears its original Dunlop tires, free from wear and damage. The wheels are in beautiful original condition. The braking system has been recently serviced, with new fluid ensuring optimal performance.

The car drives smoothly and swiftly, with no unusual noises. It is in perfect condition for driving, showing, and enjoying.
