1983 Toyota Land Cruiser

The 1983 Toyota HJ60 Land Cruiser is a legendary heavy-duty diesel workhorse, renowned for its bulletproof 2H inline 6 engine and exceptional long-distance durability. Featuring a boxy, functional design, this 60-series variant delivers superior low-end torque for overlanding, while offering more comfort than its predecessors. It is a highly sought-after classic 4x4, prized for its mechanical simplicity, robust ladder-frame construction and capability to endure in harsh, remote environments. This particular example lived in Costa Rica until it was brought back to the United States in 2025. The current owner who we represent on consignment has a home in Costa Rica and purchased this vehicle to keep there in 2019. He loved it so much that he purchased a new one in 2025 which is when he decided to ship this one back to his primary residence in the U.S. He had planned on keeping it but has since changed his mind which is why you are seeing it now. The original 2H inline 6-cylinder diesel engine was rebuilt 15,000 miles ago. At the same time it received a new turbo, a new stainless-steel exhaust, new H-D bumpers with a winch up front, a rear mounted oversized spare tire carrier, a snorkel intake, a H-D roof rack, new leaf springs, new bushings and a double capacity radiator designed to handle tropical heat. Within the last year it received 5 new BF Goodrich 33X12.5R15 MT tires as well as a new Sony high-power BT stereo with all new speakers. The interior is starting to show its age but has held up incredibly well considering. The exterior has some rust forming around the roof rails and roof rack supports that are attached to them and the floor boards have some thin spots that will need to be addressed eventually. The odometer shows 480,973 km which is equivalent to 298,863 miles. The only things that are in need of attention is that it needs a new thermostat which is preventing the heat from working properly, the horn is not working and she is quite smokey when cold. Other than that, everything else is in proper working order. Based on the current JD Power values and the vehicles present condition we would classify this as an average vehicle and would appraise it a $34,200 accordingly.
