Over a five-year production run, Ferrari built just 1,306 examples of the chic and stylish 400i. Its Bosch K-Tronic fuel injection system offered an improved emissions output from the prodigious 4.8-litre V-12 engine. Most of those cars were fitted with an automatic box intended for effortless cross-continental cruising, though 422 cars including chassis number 45663 offered here left the Maranello factory with a five-speed manual transmission.
Delivered new with Verde Pino Metallic (pine green) paintwork over a Sabbia (light beige) leather interior, the Ferrari was supplied to its first owner via M G Crepaldi Automobili, the official Ferrari dealer for Milan. First registered on the Italian targa SO 134745 , indicating ownership in the Sondrio commune near the Swiss border, the cars accompanying estratto cronologico lists a series of ownership exchanges in the 1980s. In 2007, the 400i was reregistered to a new owner in Palermo as PA A00864 . It changed hands again in 2009, 2011, 2013, and was sold at auction in 2016. In 2025, the Ferrari was sold to its consigning owner by a classic car dealership in the Province of Bergamo, ending its 42-year stay in Italy. Now offered for sale once more, this Ferraris alluring colour combination is sure to appeal to many.
