1983 Chevrolet C10 Short Bed Pickup For consignment, a 1983 Chevrolet C10 short bed pickup truck with a ground up restoration, a slick gray exterior, and a big V8 under the hood. Note: Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area Exterior Gray Steel Metallic covers the truck that is not only debadged, but also hunkered down over 18-inch Bogart wheels and thats more than enough to cause most car people to do a double take. That, and the fact that you just dont see many 1983 C10s on the road anymore. No bowties on the grille but a painted bar spans the distance between the headlights stacked over the marker lights, all over a chrome bumper. But out back, a roll pan replaces the bumper and creates a streamlined and monochromatic look and draws the eyes to the massive 30x12.00R18 tires underneath. In profile, there is a slight rake to the lowered truck and panel gaps are decent. The bed is Rhino coated and flat black which helps smooth out the minor dings. We could not find any glaring exterior flaws on the truck. Interior Black vinyl door panel are framed in sculpted plastic, looking great while the gray steel paint on the rest of the door is also flawless. The black vinyl bench seat has cloth inserts of black, white and gray stripes and are not only in great shape but match the truck well. A standard steering wheel shares the column with a tachometer and the shifter and behind it, the GM dashboard and gauge cluster looking very clean. The center stack has vent controls and an AM/FM radio and the rest of the dash hovers over the passenger department with clean lines and not an ounce of patina. Low pile black carpet covers the floor and continues to the storage area behind the seats while above us, shiny gray paint covers the ceiling, just above the sliding rear window. Drivetrain The engine bay is clean and show quality and houses a consignor stated 383ci stroker engine with GMPP aluminum heads, and Edelbrock intake, and a 4-barrel carburetor. Setting the truck in motion will be a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission with a shift kit installed, sending power to the rear 10 bolt axle with 3.73 gears and Positraction. Power brakes bring it all to a stop with discs in front and drums in back. Headers make their way underneath to start the exhaust process. Undercarriage Clean and dry underneath with no surface rust nor errant fluids to speak of. The dual exhaust enters FlowMaster mufflers before exiting discreetly under the truck, just after the rear axle. There are no catalytic converters. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in back. Drive-Ability Well, dont mind if we do! Big fans of clean C10s and this one fits the bill. On the short drive, we note plenty of muscle underfoot, a great sound, and very good handling. The cab is comfortable, upright, and allows full visibility. Things that dont work include the horn, the speedometer, and the odometer. Everything else functions as it should. Are you looking for a clean, turnkey C10 that has all the right ingredients? Heck, we love big chrome exhaust tips but love the fact the exhaust is hidden on this truck, adding to its somewhat sleeper presentation. The aftermarket has made it easy to restore Chevy C10s but lets face it, you dont have time to get to the one under tarps in your driveway, and the HOA is starting to whine.
