1982 Land Rover Range Rover Classic

This 1982 Range Rover was originally sold in Europe. It is a rare Tor edition featuring striking Lincoln green paint and tan velour upholstery, with zebrano wood accents on the interior door panels. The truck was brought to the US (Texas) in the mid-1980s, and is currently registered in CA.

The truck is powered by the original 3.5l V8, fed by dual SU carburetors, and power is delivered to all 4 wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox and a gear-driven transfer case.

Past ownership commissioned a cosmetic refurbishment including new paint and an interior refresh including new carpet and headliner. The original velour upholstery is in very good condition with no rips or tears. Custom fit sheepskin seat covers are on the front seats and steering wheel as a protective measure, but these are also in very good condition. As stated there are no rips or tears on the front seats beneath the sheepskin covers. Overall cosmetic condition inside and out is 8/10, with a few minor flaws in the seat plastic shown in the final 3 pictures, as well as a small scrape barely visible on the left rear wheel arch.

Mechanically, the truck starts up easily (there is a manual choke for cold starts) and pulls strongly. There are a few minor mechanical issues which ought to be addressed. The main mechanical issue is that the power steering rack leaks, and the asking price will include replacement/repair of the steering rack to address this issue. (Or the cost of this repair can be factored into the negotiated price of the truck if the buyer would prefer to address this repair themselves.)

Finally, the transmission sometimes pops out of gear while in 1st gear, but not the other gears. The transmission shifts smoothly and is flawless otherwise. So this issue with 1st gear is not anything that seems to be progressing nor is it anything that prevents using the truck as it was intended. The truck has a high/low range- and manually-locking transfer case. The older, gear-driven transfer cases are considered unbreakable, and are sought-after by the restomod crowd when building custom Range Rovers.

So in sum, this is a beautiful, unique truck that will draw lots of attention and compliments. It could be driven as-is or used as the basis of a restomod conversion. As these Range Rover Classics become rarer and rarer, the value of this truck will continue to climb.
