Classic Car Overview
This 1982 Jeep CJ7 Laredo is an all steel, very clean CJ that spent its life in Arizona. We believe this Jeep was a Laredo from the factory as it still has the chrome grille, aluminum rocker moldings, leather wrapped steering wheel and grab handle, and factory center console. The last owner did quite a few cool upgrades and we have $8,000 of receipts for work done over the last few years. The body is clean and straight on this CJ. The Jeep was originally Copper Brown, but is was stripped down to bare metal and repainted in the color of Midnight Blue around 5 years ago. The paint looks great and it still has the factory hard top and doors that are also in excellent condition. There are aftermarket bumpers on the front and rear. The rear bumper has a built in swing-away rear tire carrier. The front bumper has an old school Warn 8274 8,000 pound winch. The winch clicks when powered up but currently does not operate. The underside is very clean as you would expect from an Arizona Jeep and we found no rust issues with this vehicle.
The interior is also really nice. The entire tup was Rhino-Lined when the outside was painted. It has aftermarket Corbeau front bucket seats with a matching rear seat. It has the factory Roll Bar. The headlights, taillights, brakelights, and turn signals are all working. The gauges all work. The windshield wipers, heat, and horn are also working.
Mechanically this Jeep is excellent and it runs and drives great!! The engine is the 4.2L 258 Inline 6 that runs great with no issues or red flags that we found. The previous owner said the engine was rebuilt right before he bought the Jeep, but we did not get receipts. They added an aluminum valve cover when it was rebuilt. These engine are known for their longevity and reliability. It has Holley Sniper fuel injection added to it which is always a nice addition on these CJ7s. The transmission is the Chrysler 727 Automatic that shifts great. It is mated to the Dana 20 transfer case and the 4WD works like it should. The rear axle is upgraded to a Dana 44 and it has 3.73 gears. The front axle is also an upgraded Dana 44 with 3.73 gears. These axles came out of an International Scout and are stronger and more robust than Jeep axles from that era. It has newer stainless steel brake lines with power front disc brakes and updated master cylinder and brake booster. It has a 4 Inch all spring lift installed to fit the 33 Inch all terrain tires on nice aftermarket aluminum wheels.
