Classic Car Overview

1982 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 For consignment, a 1982 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 showing 74,831 miles on the odometer but the miles are not actual. According to our consignor, its packing a 358ci V8 powerplant, and its built with some go fast components well cover below. It also borrows a hue from the manufacturer of world renown sports cars, a little company called Porsche. Exterior Guards Red is the color of choice here, and its the same, familiar color youd see on 911s. This car lacks any Z28 demarcation, period stripes or stacked colors, and as such presents cleanly as a fully red machine. Without the color changes, the front fascia and its intake ducts look more cavernous and theres no front plate to break up the visual continuity, however two holes where the Camaro crest would be is evident. Above the face, a cowl hood rises proudly and is kept in place with a pair of hood pins. Out back, its more of a sleeper as theres no wing, no badging, and just the attractive multi colored tail lights taking center stage. From the side, 15-inch Centerline wheels with staggered size tires create a slightly raked stance and the glass T-tops creates a visual break in the red while being framed by the color. Imperfections include some separation of the paint in a panel curve, large chips, drill holes on the trunk lid, and various small scratches. Interior Our first view is that of the door panels configured in a variety of grays with black in vinyl, velour, and carpet, looking every bit of its 1982 vintage but clean and intact. Next up is the fat tan wrap around the roll cage, yes, roll cage, and the F-body gray cloth bucket seats look standard except for the hole in the drivers side upper where a five point harness is mounted, color matched to the exterior. The rear 2+2 s are in place, countered around the rear braces of the roll cage. The standard steering wheel is also in place but a ProComp tach takes up the right position on the instrument cluster while the very cool dual speedometer is in place that shows mph and km/h and the same time with a double sided rotating needle. Water and oil gauges are now in the center over an AM/FM/Cassette radio along with a Kenwood equalizer in front of a Hurst Quarter Stick race shifter with no faceplate. The raised center console is over gray plush carpet and GM branded rubber mats, all in good condition with signs of usage. The hatch area is carpeted in gray and well and makes room for the roll cage braces. Drivetrain Under the raised hood, we find a glossy red engine bay housing the 358ci V8 with Wiseco 12.5-1 pistons and a Lunati solid cam, topped by a Holley 750 cfm 4-barrel carb and an Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake manifold. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission sends power to the Currie build axle, a Ford 9 with 3.70 gears. Polished Hooker headers are on board to send spent gas southward and power brakes are assigned as front disc and rear drum. Undercarriage Driver quality underneath with areas of typical surface rust and patina, as well as residual oil on the pan and tranny pan, but otherwise dry underneath and road dirt free. Theres a driveshaft loop in place and an external fuel pump is mounted to a tubular frame. The dual exhaust flows through wide pipes and enters Borla mufflers just before dumping below the car. Suspension is made up of coil springs in front and a torque arm and coil springs in the back. Drive-Ability A raucous roar results in the starting of the car, the first sign this Z28 veers from stock. It lurches onto the test loop with plenty of power evident underfoot and a tachometer that dances with joy as we press the peddle. Tracks well, accelerates well, and all functions on board, including the ones that make it street legal, work as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. This race ready red beast is a clean machine, unfettered by decals and stripes and faux hood vents. But its also usable as a street car and rear seat belts are in place if you want to take the kids for a joy ride. With some key elements in place, you could also choose to take it up a few notches and make it go even faster! Lots of options here on a good running Z28 from the birth year of the Gen III Camaros. 1G1AP87H0CN159093 1-USA G-General Motors 1-Chevrolet A-Manual Belts P-Camaro Sport Coupe 87-2 Door Coupe H-305ci V8 4bbl 145hp 0-Check Digit C-1982 N-Norwood, OH Assy Plant 159093-Sequential Unit Number Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in a climate controlled 336,000-square foot showroom (thats more than 8 acres!).
