Classic Car Overview

1981 Ferrari 400i, fuel injected V12, 4.8 L, rare 5-speed manual transmission, Pininfarina chassis no. 34271 This example is 1 of 423 400i(s) equipped with the 5-speed manual transmission, adding to its rareness and desirability; it only has 34,700 original miles, complete engine-out service (3200 miles ago), origal paint and interior and the dual A/C option. This European-market example was fitted with California smog equipment when it was imported (1982-83) and passes the current California smog requirements (current cert. Feb. 2025). In addition to the (engine-out service), the dual ANSA exhaust has been replaced with new, including new catalytic converters. This car has been in my name (current owner) for the last 22+ years. The prior owner, a doctor, Ferrari enthusiast and a judge at the Monterey California car contests for years, this Ferrari was his transport to the events. The original paint is smooth and shiny with some crazing and fading (as most 44 year exteriors have). The two (2) mechanical items that have been changed out are: (a), The MSD electrical ignition (6420); (b), the starter motor. This (one state), (two owner) 400i has the original tool kit, jack, spare rim and tire, two (2) car covers and original floor mats. The fluids have been changed recently. A 400i like this dose not come around very often, especially - one that passes smog in California. Great running and gorgeous car. All the best and good luck.
