Classic Car Overview

1981 Corvette Why This Car Is Special We have a super color combination on a 1981 Corvette here today at Skyway Classics. But the 1981 Corvettes were a special year because it was the first year Corvettes were ever produced in two factories at one time. The new Bowling Green, Kentucky plant produced its first Corvette on June 1, 1981 while the St. Louis plant was producing its last Corvettes. Mechanical The 1981 Corvette had only one powerplant available, a 350 cubic inch engine that produced 190 horsepower and was now designated the L81. This engine was certified in all states and available with manual or automatic transmissions, ours has the 3-speed automatic transmission and the Rochester Quadrajet Carburator. A chrome air cleaner lid and cast magnesium valve covers dressed the engine and it has stainless steel exhaust manifolds, computer control system, as well as an auxiliary electric engine cooling fan. The 1981 Corvette had a published 0-60 mph in 8.1 seconds and was the fastest American made car in 1981 Interior The bright red leather bucket seat interior is great with its red carpeting, dash, side panels, and console and really sets off the exterior red paint. It features an adjustable drivers seat, stereo radio, a center instrument panel full of factory gauges, and more. Exterior The Steel Cities Gray exterior paint looks great and only 1571 of the 1981 Corvettes were painted in that color. Other options that could be ordered that our Corvette has were the cast aluminum wheels at a cost of $428, modern Cooper performance tires, a rear factory spoiler, power remote outside mirrors, and the final legacy of the 1981 Chevrolet Corvette, the first US production car to feature T-tops. Conclusion If you wanted an open-air Corvette experience, you need to come see and drive this sporty 1981 Corvette here today at Skyway Classics. It is sharp, sexy, and a fast and great handling Corvette. So give us a call at 941-254-6608.
