1980 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

Classic Auto Mall is proud to present the 1980 L48 version of the Corvette. Gracing our Hallowed Halls in a screaming yellow zonker (yellow!) which is the original paint with a doeskin beige leather interior and 15,149 title verified original miles. T topped and smooth racy lines this chrome less bumper car is just rarin to go. Our consigner purchased the car from a local individual who bought the car from Stoudts Auto Sales in Reading, PA over 30 years ago and it only had 14,000 miles on it then, so not too much clocking of miles has gone on in 30 years! Exterior From the swooping front long racing style hood, to the simple 4 round lighted rear with just a touch of spoiler, this car is classic Yellow all day long, and its in factory condition. Showing beautifully for the original paint, the fiberglass underneath is excellent with no cracks or major faults. Hidden headlights up front give it an aerodynamic feel, and for some sun, you can pop off the glass panels of the T roof. A long and curved greenhouse rear glass covers a large storage area in the rear. 15-inch slotted chromed faux Corvette knockoff hub wheels are wrapped by raised white letter Goodyear Eagle GT wheels which came from the factory. Interior Doeskin colored, (beige), stitched leather, gold carpet, and enough instrumentation to keep you occupied for a significant amount of time, makes up the pure 1980s style interior. The buckets have light tan leather bolsters and tuck and roll horizontal striped darker tan broadcloth inserts. All looking good here with little wear, and the carpets in gold are excellent. Within the center of the dash is included a cluster of 5 gauges, an AM/FM Cassette stereo, and temp sliders. A very clean center console houses the shift lever and window toggles. Within the drivers view is a rectangular instrument cluster with some vertically aligned warning lighting, and dual round blackface gauges with white lettering. Fronting the dash is a factory leather covered steering wheel with black spokes and a central flag badged horn ring. In back the carpeted storage areas under the greenhouse glass is soft and not faded and has a storage bag for the roof panels. Drivetrain A flip of the hood forward, and we have full access to the original unrestored, and very clean and no corrosion showing engine bay. This houses the correct and original L48 350ci V8 painted in a beautiful deep blue. A single 4-barrel carburetor sits atop this mill, and a T10 4-speed manual transmission is bolted on the back. This throws power back to a 3.07 rear setup, and smokes the tires at will. All is looking nice and clean with no corrosion for its engine and bay assemblage of parts. And only 15K original miles on this mill..AMAZING! Undercarriage Typical wear, patina, and a slight bit of dirt are showing underneath, and for 1980 is very much expected. Slight surface rust is noted mostly on exhaust piping and the floor pans are solid with a patina finish. For the front and back we note independent suspension with the front having an SLA type with spherical point steering knuckles, and rear has a frame anchored differential unit with transverse leaf springs. Power disc brakes are on all 4 corners and this wraps up the original undercarriage. Also of note new brake pads, a new starter motor, new shocks, a new fuel pump, and battery have been replaced as NOS new. Drive-Ability A well cared for, garage storage, (a mere 1K miles during this time), kept of 30 years, clean nice driving car with nice smooth performance on the test track. No noticeable errors and only the horn did not work. The AC blows cold and our consignor states it has recently been converted to R134. 1980 was not a banner year for the Corvette as it was getting pounded with emissions regulations, and even had to come up with a different engine for California. The design was definitely there though, and this car shows it. A nice clean low low mileage example, with original paint and that wonderful padded leather seating, you will be seated in a Corvette, which doesnt get any better than that.
