This 1979 Volkswagen Brasilia was imported to the US from Brazil under previous ownership and refurbished approximately four years ago. Power comes from an air-cooled 1.6L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and equipped with dual carburetors, electronic ignition, and an EMPI exhaust system. he Bras lia was developed by Volkswagen of Brazil utilizing a body designed by M rcio Piancastelli fitted over a Karmann Ghia chassis. Offered in three and five-door versions between 1973 and 1982, this three-door example was fitted with a sliding sunroof and painted blue under previous ownership. The muffler grille has been cut to accommodate the aftermarket exhaust, and additional exterior details include front quarter vent windows, chrome bumpers, and side air vents on the quarter panels. Per the seller, yellow inner headlights were fitted, air horns were installed, and the Volkswagen-script badge, taillights, turn signal lenses, and bumper trim were replaced in April 2024. The 15 5.5 Lemmerz steel wheels were reportedly refurbished, fitted with replacement center caps and lug nuts, and mounted with 185/65 Kumho Solus tires under current ownership. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes. The front bucket seats and rear bench are covered by patterned saddle blanket seat covers, and the condition of the upholstery beneath is unknown. Work in April 2024 is said to have included reupholstering the rear door panels, installing a short shift kit, and replacing the center console, shift boot, and parking brake boot, The aftermarket three-spoke steering wheel wears a VW-branded horn button and frames a 160-k/ph speedometer and a fuel level gauge. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 67k kilometers (42k miles). Accessible via a panel located in the rear cargo area, the air-cooled 1.6L flat-four was factory equipped with dual carburetors and electronic ignition. Per the seller, the valves were adjusted, an oil change was performed, and the carburetors were cleaned and adjusted in addition to wiring repairs and replacement of the spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter, fuel lines, alternator, and engine bay insulation.
