Classic Car Overview
The odometer shows 39,XXX miles. I cant document that as original mileage, so Im simply representing what the odometer reads.
Its painted tuxedo metallic charcoal with black, a combination that gives it a slightly more sophisticated look than the usual bright Beetle colors. The convertible top is in good condition, as are the headliner, seats, carpets and interior overall. It isnt a concours restoration and I wouldnt describe it as perfect. Its a good-looking, honest driver that you can actually enjoy.
Mechanically, it runs well. I just had the brakes done and also replaced the catalytic converter. The engine starts right up, the transmission shifts properly, the charging system works as it should, and the tires are good. Because I dont drive it much, I keep it on a battery tender and take it around the neighborhood once or twice a month. Set up for tow bar if you want to lug it behind a motorhome (I never did).
It also passes California smog. Anyone familiar with these later fuel-injected Beetles knows that they need to be properly tuned to do that. Every two years I take it to a VW tuner who gets everything dialed in and then takes it through the smog check.
This isnt a car I bought to flip or hide problems with. I bought it because I liked it and wanted an old Beetle to cruise around in. Now its time for somebody else to enjoy it.
