Classic Car Overview

Why is this car so special? Compared a F14, this is a bargain! This 1979 Pontiac debuted as the 10th Anniversary Limited Edition Trans Am. Along with its special paint treatment, graphics, wheels, and more, this 79 Trans AM would be among the last offered with the 6.6 403 cubic inch engine. As a collectible car from the 1970s, the Anniversary Trans Am stands out in terms of desirability and value. It has a striking look that is combined with beautiful styling, superb handling, and strong Pontiac V-8 performance that makes it highly coveted by collectors and performance traditionalists.

Under the hood is a 403 cubic inch V8-6.6L engine (verified by the 5th digit K on VIN #). It fires up readily and inhales deeply with the four-barrel carburetor and exhaust. Blue painted engine and heads, blue valve covers, power steering and power disc brakes, air conditioning, and Shaker hood scoop. Everything on the engine looks as it did when it was built and sits in a very clean and detailed engine compartment. The TH350 three-speed automatic transmission makes this Trans Am easy to shift. The chassis rides and handles firmly with the TA package and sway bars as it rides on BF Goodrich Radial T/A raised white letter tires and the iconic Turbine Pontiac factory mag wheels.
Interior greets with silver leather interior and a handsome center console housing the 3-speed automatic transmission. Twin front bucket seats, simulated leather-wrapped Formula steering wheel, engine-turned instrument panel inlay with special red lighting for the instruments inspired by aircraft, the Rally Gauge cluster which includes both a clock and tachometer, power windows, air conditioning, matching side door panels and rear seats, grey carpet, and grab strap on the dash.
Exterior: The big difference on the 79 10th Anniversary Trans Am is never-seen-before silver and charcoal scheme with a Super Bird on the hood with its wing tips extended onto the tops of the front fenders. A new cast aluminum turbo 15 x 8 wheel design was included in the package. Also included is the 10th Anniversary badging and decals, grey/red pin stripping and decals, the Shaker hood, T-Tops, ground effects and wheel opening spoilers on the sides, air extractors on the front fenders, and a rear spoiler. The tail panel appears to be one blacked-out unit with the tail lamp lens.
