From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Classic Car Overview

The GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this beastly 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. This brilliant muscle car comes in a stunning black paint job complemented by a clean matching interior and the iconic Phoenix logo. Powering the Firebird is a rebuilt 455ci V8 motor mated to a stout automatic transmission. Numerous modifications have been made to the 455 including aluminum heads, intake, headers and exhaust. All of which were done professionally by Wrenchers, a locally well known muscle car shop. Features of the Firebird include power 4 wheel disc brakes, power windows, power steering, working heat and more. The Trans Am is believed to have been restored based on its condition as well as a few receipts for body work. All of which is also done professionally by the same previously listed shop. Additionally, Wrenchers has preformed various general maintained on the TA with receipts to show that work. So, if youre in the market for on of the most recognizable muscle cars of all time, its hard to beat a 79 Trans Am. Please call or email us today for more information.

Introduced in 1970, the second generation Firebird was only available as a fastback coupe. Designed in tandem with the Chevrolet Camaro, the Firebird was a popular halo car for the Pontiac range. Government regulations started killing muscle cars in the 1970s left and right. However, Pontiac kept producing the Firebird Trans-Am with specs that were on the edge of legality, with perhaps some fudging of some horsepower numbers. Of course, Smokey and the Bandit made the late 70s models a highly desired and iconic piece of cultural automotive history that still hold mass appeal to this day.
