The Volkswagen Kombi van reached iconic status, with even a school lunch box fashioned in its image. During those early years, the Volkswagen Microbus morphed into various forms. From a cargo carrier with no windows behind the driver's seat to a windowed passenger van with three rows of seats, the possibilities seemed endless.

This 450SL started its life out in Kansas City, Mo where it was delivered to Schofield Bros Pontiac/Mercedes dealership in March of 1979. This vehicle was initially used by the Schofield Bros as a demo at their dealership. Somewhere around 1983 per the included maintenance records the 450SL ended up in beautiful Scottsdale, AZ where it has remained since. It was purchased in 1993 by a Scottsdale resident. In 1998 it underwent an extensive restoration by the Toy Box which included a complete repaint finished in its original color Signal Red. All exterior and interior components were removed before paint and clearcoat was applied. In 2008 I purchased the 450SL for my wife. During this time the front seats, head rests and center arm rest were redone in the original perforated leather. All maintenance has been completed by German Auto Service of Scottsdale since I acquired the 450SL which is also where the prior owner had the service completed. The vehicle rides very smooth and floats down the road. This is a solid well cared for and meticulously maintained 450SL Roadster. It has always been garaged. This vehicle comes with a custom car cover for the garage along with the red matching auxiliary hardtop. This is a very fun car to drive and will always garner attention at car shows and passersby.
The original owner’s manual and maintenance booklet are included. The maintenance books provides when the vehicle was delivered to the Schofield Bros dealership. In addition, all receipts and pictures for the restoration and service that has been completed since 1998 is included in a binder for the new owner.
