From around 1956 until the mid 1980s, Dodge, Plymouth and even Chrysler squads were the most ubiquitous police cars in North America. In fact, the biggest department, the NYPD, used Plymouth and Dodge squads almost exclusively until the rear-drive M body car was finally axed in 1989.

Classic Car Overview

The Lincoln Continental was once a household name for luxury cars, and has long been understood to be an icon of 1970s American automotive comfort. Before the Town Car became a standalone model, it was the Continental Town Car. This generation Town Car is likely what comes to mind when most hear the term, and has luxury features akin to those of a 1970s living room. This example is finished in the delightful Wedgewood Blue, a striking and attractive color that quickly takes you back to days gone by. Even for those that may not previously have looked twice at a Town Car of this vintage, the Wedgewood Blue is an immediate attention-getter thatll have folks talking about the Town Cars of their past. The exterior of this car is nearly immaculate, having been garaged and driven sparingly since day one. The odometer shows a little over 36,000 miles, and while there is no documentation to prove it, the condition speaks for itself. The vinyl top is in almost perfect condition, with no signs of bubbling or damage. Largely in original condition, the only changes that have been made to this car are the addition of premium factory items it did not originally come equipped with. Exterior changes include Wedgewood Blue body side moldings and Lincoln turbine-style wheels. The original wheel covers and white side moldings are in great condition, and included with the sale. The interior is also blue, and it would almost be disappointing were it any other color! The luxurious and comfortable bench seats are covered in soft cloth, which really adds to the couch-y feel of this car. Once again, the nearly perfect condition of the interior speaks to the mileage claim. Even the electric clock works properly! With a plethora of power options in place, this Lincoln is just about the pinnacle of 1970s American luxury cars. The only interior equipment upgrade is the addition of a factory CB radio; an incredibly cool factory option. This car is so comfortable and quiet inside that one cant help but feel at peace when behind the wheel. It just hugs you and makes you feel at home! Under the hood is what appears to be the original Ford 400 V8 engine, which runs smoothly and quietly as any good Lincoln should. We cant stress how pleasantly original this car is, and that includes the condition and function of the engine. While the 460 V8 was offered in some earlier models, by 1979 it was phased out altogether in favor of the smaller but adequately powerful 400. This is a turn-key cruiser ready to go wherever you want it to. Finding a Continental Town Car in this condition finished in such an attractive color combination is not an easy task. This car is setup right for all of your luxury land yacht needs, and is simply a nice car through and through. If you want to feel like youre on your couch everywhere you go, look no further!
