Classic Car Overview
HIGHLIGHTS: Classic is the best word to describe this gorgeous Jeep. 304 AMC V8, 3-speed manual, soft top and soft doors with Golden Eagle decals! BODY OVERVIEW: The body on this Jeep is incredible, showing normal signs of use. This Jeep appears to be largely original, and is super clean and solid throughout. Again, there are some normal signs of use, but this vehicle does not appear to have undergone a full restoration at any point and as such is in remarkable condition for the age. PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: The paint is in great overall condition. There are very few paint imperfections, and the few that are visible are normal signs of use rather than signs of mistreatment. There are some areas that look to have been touched up with closely matching paint. As a whole, this Jeep looks like it is wearing an older repaint, so it does have some of the normal marks that come with age and wear. This Jeep also appears to be a factory Golden Eagle, and the decals are in good shape despite showing some signs of age. INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The black interior is in great shape, and the new black vinyl seats are both a welcome and an attractive upgrade. There is no doubt that this Jeep has been treated right! At some point, a Audiovox 8-track stereo made its way into the dash and it seems to work just fine. Truly a time machine back to the late 70s! Much like the exterior, the interior appears to be in largely original condition save for the seats and is in good overall condition. MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Under the hood is an AMC 304V8, which runs and sounds fantastic. Despite what tales of yore may have you think, AMC could make a pretty formidable engine back in this time period, and the 304 was no exception. According to the current owner, this engine is a Jasper rebuild, which may account for why it runs so well. The 304 is a good choice for a CJ-5, because while it provides more than adequate power, it certainly isnt overpowering and actually helps this CJ feel nimble. The 3-speed transmission shifts great, and the glasspack exhaust provides a hearty tone without blowing out your eardrums. WHAT YOULL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: Modifications are at a minimum, and it retains that classic 1970s Golden Eagle Jeep look. Plus, its ready to roll! WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: The CJ-5 is a lot more true to original form than the CJ-7, and as such they tend to feel a little more rugged. DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? The factory tachometer is not currently operational, because it was converted to electronic ignition. WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? This Jeep is for the buyer looking for a road-ready Jeep they can drive and enjoy the same day they buy it. If youre looking for a nice, largely unmodified Jeep that drives well enough that you can actually enjoy it, this is a great candidate!
